Shut it, Pujols. You took the money to be in LA*. Now you get to be whored out to a fanbase that doesn't care about you as a person, they only care about how many titles you win. If you wanted to be respected you should have stayed in St. Louis. Now do what the man who is playing you $230 million dollars tells you to do.

Except that his objection is over his own respect for Stan Musial. But reading articles is hard, I know.

Besides, he quit being a man when he sent Diedre out to do his post-departure interviews. A real man faces the sports media instead of hiding behind his wife's skirt while she answers softballs from one of her lackeys on the local Christian elevator music station.

It was a rather tasteless move by the LAA (of anaheim and greater orange county) to put albert in that position, seriously the guy has been ripping up the league (of anaheim?) for how long now, and we still dont have a moniker, alias or nickname for him?

I blame baseball writers (of anaheim) for this, some of the most banal and uninspired reporters in America (of anaheim)!

How were the angels not aware of this?

They're giving the guy a quarter of a billion dollars and his signing will affect the team for the next two decades.

I am not that connected to Albert and I knew he backed away from the nickname.

I'm not a Cards fan, I'm a Yankee fan, and the Angels have entered into the Yankee's world now with their spending. When someone is paying you 200+ million to play a kid's game you shut the hell up and win games and help sell tickets. Pujols still thinks he's in St. Louis and that people in area actually care about Stan Musial. Pujols is in LA now for the money not because he's beloved by the fans. If he has a bad season that doesn't end with a WS ring there will be stories about he was waste of money. He's nothing more than a hired gun now.

Well, like a douche, I guess. Sorry, but claiming you "got over" a player leaving after that player delivered a shiat ton of success to your team is a douchey statement. What is there to "get over"?

The fact that he said he wouldn't leave town for only "3 or 4 million a year" then left town for basically 3 or 4 million a year.

The fact that he put up a 10 foot 1100 pound bronze statue of himself about two months before ditching town.

Really, I have no problem with the guy, and realize it was a business decision. But his wife is a shiat-disturber and likes to play the victim card, saying the fans didn't respect them, or that God called them to play for the Angels, or that people in St. Louis are evil for collecting Pujols jerseys and donating them to charities in LA, among other bullshiat. Look, it's his career, and he can do whatever he wants with it, including taking the most money, but don't piss down my leg and tell me it's raining.

Also, I miss KFOU, goddammit.

Really? You hadn't heard that Cards fans were a little upset he left for a bigger payday when those same fans (and the organization itself) treated the guy - justifiably - like baseball royalty?

Well, they were a little upset, and a good number of them still are a little cranky about it. I, on the other hand, am not.

That's the "it" I got over. It has nothing to do with pennants, rings, etc., and to think it does wreaks of ignorance, butthurt over a Series loss, and/or general douchebaggery.

I'm guessing it's all three.

On the field, he's basically been just as good through his age 31 season, which was 11 seasons for both:

Musial: .346/.431/.579, 415 doubles, 133 triples, 227 HR, 60 SB, OPS+ 172, 82.0 WAR, 3x MVP
Pujols: .328/.420/.617, 455 doubles, 15 triples, 445 HR, 84 SB, OPS+ 170, 88.7 WAR, 3x MVP

Musial is a marginally better hitter, but Pujols has an edge in Wins Above Replacement because he's regarded as a superior defender.

Off the field, Musial was always one of the great ambassadors of the game, and missed a year in his prime due to WWII. (That said, he was in MD and HI for 1945, doing ship repair, so he's not exactly Ted Williams either.) He stayed with one team for his whole career, but that was also in an era before free agency, when switching teams was not common.

If Pujols doesn't feel worthy of being compared to Musial, it's because of the off-the-field stuff.

Note: Angels fan since the early 70's.

Damn, I'm already sick of Poo holes and he hasn't even played a regular season game yet. As was pointed out above, he's here to help the Angels win a World Series, NOW, everything else is just shenanigans. The team has to know that the warm fuzzy feelings of 2002 are long gone, a few more seasons like 2011 and it's going to be back to the bad old days of 20,000 people in the stands.

I already loathe his wife as well, I didn't realize they were a package deal. Just what this area needs, *another* Bible thumper babbling nonsense about Satan because of the trivial nonsense she's involved in.

If there's one thing cards fans are good at, it's getting upset over the tiniest slight. Saw that firsthand in the stands during the series.

I didn't know much about Poo holes before he came here because, well, there's a National League? really? but he seems to be about 20 years too late with the God Squad stuff in Anaheim (see: Gary Gaetti et al.).
