"Don't Google me"
"So we don't see the stuff you said years ago?"
"......... yea"

Yeah.... good luck with that, Rick.

I want him to get the nomination for the potential entertainment value alone.

He should be worried about all the crazy shiat he's said in the last 4 months, never mind the last 4 years.

I agree, as long as we are talking about cell phone technology.

DNC's general election ad writers are going to be seriously overpaid this year. Easiest job in the world, one season only.

2012-02-22 02:09:18 PM
So are those the new rules? When people ask you about the stupid shiat you did 3 years ago, are you just allowed to say it's not relevant anymore?

2012-02-22 02:09:29 PM
Wait. Doesn't the word Santorum mean "the frothy byproduct of buttsecks?" That's what Fox news said.

2012-02-22 02:09:29 PM
Unlike Obama, for which we should pay attention to what his preacher said years ago and judge Obama by what this other guy said.

Quoting Republicans own words in context is a falsehood.

Not defending him, but TFA pretty much said he stands by his statements, contrary to what subby claimed.

"If they want to dig up old speeches of me talking to religious groups, they can go ahead and do so, but I'm going to stay on message and I'm going to talk about things that Americans want to talk about," Santorum said, "which is creating jobs, making our country more secure, and, yeah, taking on the forces around his world who want to do harm to America, and you bet I will take them on."

Earlier, he pledged to "defend everything I say" after noting that people might worry about his statements because he isn't "robotic" like some of the more "commoditized candidates."

Again, I don't like what he has to say, but he seems to be consistent.

Do as I say, not as I'm quoted.

KatjaMouse: I want him to get the nomination for the potential entertainment value alone.

Can you imagine an Obama/Santorum debate? Much more entertaining than an Obama/Romney one.

At this point, I actually think a Biden/Santorum debate is highly likely (that is, Romney will win, but Santorum will do well enough Romney will basically be forced to make Santorum his pick for VP).

I'd like to know if he has ever had dinner with someone who did something objectionable in the 60s, or if his priest has ever launched into a passionate speech that I can whittle to a red-meat soundbite. I want to know if as so much shook hands with Jerry Fallwell outside a men's room where Jerry didn't wash his hands. All of these things are far more relevant to me than anything of substance the candidate is saying right now.

Goose, gander, you dipshiat. Except in this case we're talking about sh*t YOU - you - actually said.

Of the consistency of Santorum, there can be no doubt.

2012-02-22 02:11:23 PM
I find it laughable that conservatives criticize Obama for not being bipartisan. The problem is that there can be no room for compromise when your establishment makes a living out of (literally) demonizing the opposition.

2012-02-22 02:11:40 PM
Does that include the 18 point loss in his re-election campaign to the Senate.

/18 points. As an incumbent.

That's the thing about Santorum. Unlike Romney, I really believe that Santorum truly believes everything that he says. He's the most genuine person up there right now (well... maybe Paul). The easiest way to defeat him is to just play back the video of him wanting to install an American Theocracy that has total control over your private life.

Well there's this part:

Asked whether he still thinks that Satan is attacking the United States, Santorum called the inquiry "not relevant to what's being discussed in America today."

Seems like he's trying to deflect attention from what he's said in the past. But at least he didn't it wasn't meant to be a factual statement. . .

Sure Rick. Perhaps you should elaborate on how your nutty fundamentalist beliefs will create jobs and make our country more secure, because you sure as hell haven't spent much time talking about that yourself.

Just a hint - the media isn't clever enough to go digging for this crap. If this is what they're talking about, it's because you've built your entire campaign on it.

"We will need a candidate who has this type of profile. Someone who can run a successful campaign with less money, with better ideas, with sharper contrasts, with good grassroots energy and excitement and organization,"

But tonight I say we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

I don't think it's a matter of previous quotes at odds with current statements as much as it is him saying consistently batshiat insane things.

It's stunning to me that this guy even has a shot at the nomination. If a majority of Republicans think this is the guy, or that this guy has any hope of defeating Obama, they've gone completely around the bend. That they might imagine that a majority of Americans would agree with this fellow is astounding. If any or all of that is true, Republican voters have careened off into their own alternate universe.

Enough already with Sasha Baron Cohen's absurd "Rick Santorum" character. I have to admit, he's fooled a lot of people, but it's time to move on to more believable characters.

I just don't see this man moving towards the center if he is nominated.

It would turn into such a messy situation for the GOP if they nominate Santorum... so many Hawthorne wipes will be needed.

I look forward to this.

While speaking about health care in front of an audience of 400 people in Woodland Park, Colorado, Rick Santorum spoke with the mother of a child with a rare genetic disorder. She was concerned about the cost of medicine because of skyrocketing drug costs and the cost of health care. Santorum told her she should stop complaining about the cost of the medication her child needs because if people can afford a $900 iPad, she can obviously afford to pay for Abilify, a drug that can cost up to one million dollars a year without health insurance.

"People have no problem paying $900 for an iPad," Santorum declared. "But paying $900 for a drug they have a problem with - it keeps you alive. Why? Because you've been conditioned to think health care is something you can get without having to pay for it."

After the mother explained that her son requires a medication that costs about one million dollars a year, Santorum lectured her about the poor pharmaceutical companies that need incentive (money) to make such drugs, and that their need for incentive (money) is greater than her need for lower cost medication that won't bankrupt her family.

"Look, I want your son and everybody to have the opportunity to stay alive on much-needed drugs. But the bottom line is, we have to give companies the incentive to make those drugs. And if they don't have the incentive to make those drugs, your son won't be alive and lots of other people in this country won't be alive. He's alive today because drug companies provide care. And if they didn't think they could make money providing that drug, that drug wouldn't be here. I sympathize with these compassionate cases. I want your son to stay alive on much-needed drugs. Fact is, we need companies to have incentives to make drugs. If they don't have incentives, they won't make those drugs. We either believe in markets or we don't."

Rick Santorum: "I believe that drug makers need their money more than you need their drugs."

"What I said then is what I thought would get me elected then. What I say now is what I think will get me elected now"

Actual views mean very little compared to what they think the electorate wants to hear.

What the hell is wrong with America that a lunatic like this even has a remote opportunity to become President? How did millions of people in one of the most successful, prosperous, powerful countries in the history of humankind ever become stupid enough to believe something Rick Santorum says?

America needs an enema.
