It's not about the eStick it's about not obeying the crew.
Decide policy on the ground Mr. AW or get your own plane. Stop wasting other people's time.

This anti-e-cigarette shiat is so completely retarded and out of control it's unfathomable. I quit by using them, they're absolutely brilliant, they don't harm a soul, and anyone bothered by them is a farking moron who deserves to be stuck in a small room with 5 real smokers, and kicked in the nuts.

Done in one. TFA says "Continental has a policy banning the use of e-smokes." When you purchase your ticket and board the plane you agree to follow the rules of the airline and the FAA. If the flight attendant tells you to turn off your phone/laptop or fasten your seatbelt, just do it and STFU. Pitching a fit like a toddler and whining "you're not my real mommy, you can't tell me what to do!" will result in getting your ass kicked off the plane and possibly fined or put on a no-fly list, as well as inconveniencing everyone else on the plane.

I've tried the e-cigs, and I'm thinking it would be very, very easy to sneak a hit or two on the plane.
You don't have to hold it like a regular smoke. You could easily cover the whole thing with your fist, because you're not going to get burned.
Hell, stick it down a cup and make it look like a drinking straw, or something.

It is easy, I've done it and no one has ever complained about it. The trick is not to exhale the vapor, hold it in for a bit and breathe normally.

Turns out the world is not full of super geniuses. Continental is stupid for banning them, there is not a single good reason for banning them. However Continental is a private business so I don't really have a problem with them making that decision. What's amazingly stupid is that the federal government is thinking about banning them.

There's a lot of ignorance about E-cigs, and it's due in large part to the FDA's press release a year ago or so that they contain carcinogens, without mentioning specifically that the amount of carcinogens were in minute trace amounts that were statistically insignificant. The FDA wanted to control E-cigs as drug delivery devices and the E-liquid as a drug, but the SCOTUS told them they couldn't do that. Now that they're going to be regulated in the US as a tobacco product (which still isn't right) they still want to treat them like cigarettes, which is idiotic.
I love my E-cigs, quit over a year and a half ago because of them and never felt better. Now I do reviews and help people discover E-cigs so they can get off the cancer sticks.
That said though this guy was a bit of a douchenozzle. For fark's sake, either don't use the damn thing on the plane or learn to stealth vape.

I've used them on a plane before... as long as the user holds the vapor for a few moments, nothing is exhaled. If the user is smart, no one ever need know about it. That being said, if the flight attendant tells you to cut something out, you listen. No one needs to make a scene on a plane and anyone who has flown before should know that. I think the issue is a good bellwether to see whether people are actually interested in protecting the public from a health hazard (secondhand smoke), or whether they are more interested in regulating other people's vices.

Perhaps you should research the full study a little bit. The amounts of carcinogens they found were in trace amounts that would have just about zero effect on human health.

Seriously though - anyone who freaks over one of these things should be the one thrown in federal prison. All you exhale is visible water vapor, yes WATER vapor, the same farking thing you are exhaling now. Because it has an orange LED on the end I'm a TURRORIST?
I may have been born in 82 - but I'm quite sure there was a time in this country you could smoke REAL farking cigarettes on a plane.
The real terrorists are laughing their ass off at just how much of a f'd up nazi police state we have become, we are scared of our own shadow. The level of anti-smoking, or even anti-ecig smoking people will go to is insane. Even when we invent a totally smokeless, odorless, flameless way of "smoking" people still get pissy, which tells me that even if we just rolled up a little while paper and made the motions of smoking, someone would still get pissed off.
Anyone who's so blindly anti smoking and operating on this nazi like level should look at our country and it's history, smokers were here long long LONG before you were.

Yeah, except there aren't carcinogens. You are vaporizing water, nicotine and common propylene glycol which is used in pretty much every asthma inhaler. The FDA even lists PG as safe or generally safe. Nicotine isn't a carcinogen, and neither is atomized water.

I quit smoking 5 months ago and still use my e-cig (eGos and Riva 510s for the enthusiasts). It is truly the best cessation product available. Quitting was virtually painless.
That said, I had to stop going to the e-cig forums, etc., because I can't stand these militant e-cig users. I do not use mine anywhere in public that I couldn't use a real cigarette. It makes people uncomfortable and it is, frankly, obnoxious. Just be happy that you found an effective way to quit smoking and stop waving it in everyone's face.

I absolutely loathe smokers, most people at my office know this, but some still stubbornly try to smoke these electric cigarettes as if it doesn't cause discomfort and possible second-hand smoke effects. This is why I keep a small bottle of fox urine handy with a spray-nozzle. If they are going to pollute my air, I am going to spray them. Not surprisingly, it works every time, I have never had to spray the same smoker twice.

"He was screaming, 'Allah is great, Allah is great,' you know, and it kinda worries you when all of that happens..." says a passenger on the flight in the video above. The KHOU story doesn't mention this, and says the flight turned around and landed back in Portland because one of them wouldn't obey the "No Smoking" sign."

Also, carcinogens are probably some of the least deadly things you can breathe on a plane. The bird flu and airborne ebola that about half of the travelers seem to have this time of year are much more worrisome. Saying nothing of the jackasses who don't bathe and/or eat beans, cabbage, and draft beer for a week straight before flying.

True, and this sort of idiocy is the sort of thing that gives E-cigs a bad name at a time when they're still trying to find a respectable level of legitimacy, so this guy's douchenozzelry is doubled for that reason.
