Heh... That's like all the wealthy assholes down the Cape biatching about the wind farm "blocking their view" of the Ocean.

Back when Hess was still trying to bully their way into placing a LNG terminal in my neighborhood (We finally got them to give up that idea, thankfully), I would have gladly traded with them for a wind farm.

Ms. Murray obviously doesn't think that this is "A little Good News." Also, I do believe the CBC had an article a few weeks back claiming that all these windmills in NS were just going to cause NSP to up rates yet again.

Oh for Christ's sake Anne, there has been no proved link between wind farms and Lesbian Bed Death. Now shut your Nimby twat moistener and go back to boring our grand parents.

Anne Murray has written a letter to Premier Darrell Dexter, saying the proposed development is "deeply disturbing" and has no place in Pugwash, N.S., or near its scenic golf course.

Is there even enough room for a wind farm?

You have 4 pugs, give them some broccoli, and you'll have a very nasty wind farm.

Hey now, anne wasn't all that bad. Lester Bangs (new window) thought she was a bit of a sex pot, and in the 1970s she used to hang out (i.e get drunk/stoned with Alice Cooper, Harry Nilsson, Micky Dolenz, and John Lennon:

Kind of a quixotic headline there, Subby.

Windmills are all great and greeny until you have them clusterfarked all over the place, then they quickly become ugly and annoying.

Plus, with the limited and cost-inefficient energy they generate they'd be a non-starter without all the government subsidies and mandates for green energy being placed on utilities.

But Ann Murray can suck it.

Why do Canucks insist on calling her the "songbird"? Jeebus, she's nearly fossilized, why not call her "Theropod"?

FTA...

"Wind turbines are imposing structures and definitely not the kind of thing one wants to see from a golf course," she wrote."Turbines are a curiosity, but only once."

What's so farking scenic about a golf course, you bloody bint?

North Cumberland Wind Farm, an affiliate of Atlantic Wind Power Corp., is proposing to install 12 wind turbines generating 33 megawatts of power on land about two kilometres from the village.

Only 12? I live in northern IL and there are several major wind farms around here with dozens of turbines. I don't know how anyone could be 100% opposed to them on purely aesthetic grounds, well except for someone who's a wealthy, stuck-up, old coont. Otherwise they're always cool.

The wind from the turbines keeps blowing her balls off course.

If the project goes ahead, Murray said the turbines wouldn't be visible from her home.

"Wind turbines are imposing structures and definitely not the kind of thing one wants to see from a golf course," she wrote.

"I just think the process is unfair and should be looked at by the powers that be," she said from Jupiter, Fla.

My heart is bleeding purple piss for you, poor old rich lady.

The Roscoe wind farm near Sweetwater, TX is frikkin' huge. It's the largest onshore wind farm in the world, at least until Shepards Flat in Oregon comes online.

Jesus, this podunk town is home to a salt mine and shes complaining about what look like big thin white flowers, kilometers away from her home which she maybe thinks about sometimes while she's lawn bowling in farking Florida.

2012-02-22 02:06:12 PM
Fark, even the stupid golf course she's talking about is further away from these windmills than her kilometers-away home from which you cannot see the turbines.

2012-02-22 02:20:11 PM
The wind turbines are bad, but the golf course, in which hundreds of acres of natural habitat is destroyed and replaced by grass which must be maintained by gas burning mowers, and constantly watered and sprayed with weed killer and fertilizer which then runs off and affects the local water supply, so that a bunch of snobs can play some stupid game where they hit a ball and then drive after it in carts is ok.

The Grammy and Juno award winner said she applauds Nova Scotia's renewable energy efforts, but ultimately believes wind turbines should be built in communities that truly embrace them where poor people live.
