Police said Johnny Bell went into the bank wearing a wig and sunglasses. He passed a note to the bank teller that read, "give me the money."

So wait, that's all it takes to rob a bank? A wig, sunglasses and a note? Can I do it with crocs, an umbrella and a speak & spell?

I suspect her status will change to Suspend Without Pay when the indictment comes (That's what we usually do). Actual termination generally won't happen until the court case is finished.

IANAL - so....

Can someone explain to me the committing a crime/getting fired thing?

For example, if I rob a bank; can McDonald's (or any other private company) fire me on the grounds that I have been accused of committing a crime?

I can understand the suspended with pay thing if you are suspected of committing a crime while on the job. But if it's outside of work hours...how does that apply?

Not subby, but "innocent until proven guilty" is completely written wrong. It should be written the other way in this country, because that's the reality. I worked for a school system and another job that contracts itself out with the DHS and was charged with some things that could take a year or more to fully go through the courts to be found not guilty. I lost all of my jobs right on the spot.

I'm not biatching that I should get a handout or anything but if the system is supposed to work under certain principles and premises It should really work that way. Otherwise the law of the land is just moot.

This lady really knows how to pick 'em, though. I'm not defending her by any means. What an idiot.

In California you can be arrested for and convicted of sexually molesting multiple elementary school children over a period of decades (only being caught when you bring the photos in to be developed, providing your own proof) - and at that point you can be removed from the job but will keep your $4000/month pension and health benefits. Now that's a union!

He hasn't been convicted yet, but will keep the benefits even if so.
