While I'm thrilled that the Flames have strung together some wins and have squeaked into a playoff spot, staying ahead of Dallas, Colorado, Minnesota and Los Angeles for 23 games ain't going to be easy.

Beating Edmonton tonight is a must, as are most games from here on out.

Howard is back. I gotta believe with Jimmy and Joey the Wings currently have the best one/two goalie combo in the league.

Elliot and Halak might want a word with you.

I'll be glued to the TV tonight for sure.

Every time the Islanders start to give me some slight bit of hope, they do something like lose 6-0 to Ottawa. Buffalo's up tonight and it's a winnable game, but I really doubt our chances at this point.

That said, I think we finally do have the beginnings of something here and I'm glad they've been trying to sign core guys like Nielsen to extensions rather than trade them. It'll be interesting to see what ends up happening with Nabokov and Mr. 5th-in-the-league-in-assists.

Toews is out for the Hawks also, so call it a wash for tonight.

Well, at least I won't have to pull my hair out and throw things at the TV since the Bruins aren't playing until tomorrow...

Thank God it's not on NBC or its sports affiliate. I've had about all I can take of that announcing crew for the rest of the year.*

*Not including Doc Emrick and Dave Strader, just everybody else.

I know some people can't stand him, but I find it hard to dislike the guy. He seems like a nice dude.

At least we can take solace that nothing was getting by Backstrom on Sunday. Nothing. He's one of the better goalies in the league to begin with, but that was his "God mode" day, and we were just the poor suckers that had to face him.

True... But that doesn't really excuse the three other times they've been shut out in the last stretch of games.

I'll be in the cheap seats at United Center trying to get a LGRW chant going. If this is my last post on Fark, know that my demise was my own damn fault.

What happened there? I guess I always thought of the Lightning as having enough talent to make the playoff comfortably.

You might have been thrown from the balcony in the Old Barn, but it's been a while since I've seen a brawl in the UC the way they used to happen back in the day in the Stadium. They will still drown you out with DEE TROIT SUCKS chants though if you have any success in getting your chant going.

Same, I think it'd be great for them to get into the playoffs, it's been way too long since they've had any post-season play.

Also, no mention of the Canucks playing the Predators? That should be a good game.

2012-02-21 04:07:45 PM
Chicago better score big and score early tonight. I haven't gotten a chance to use my Blackhawks goal light that often since I bought it.

sigdiamond2000: I know some people can't stand him, but I find it hard to dislike the guy. He seems like a nice dude.

I don't have a problem with Doc personally, but I think the crew he's with doesn't do him any favors.

Edzo is fine if you can take him with a grain of salt, but if you're easily irritated, hearing "Stick on the ice/most dangerous part of the ice/active stick/happy human" a few dozen times a game can get annoying.

Pierre's volume setting is permanently set to 11, and if any of the league's marquee players are on the ice, you can tell he spends most of his time off-mic screaming tear-filled love poems at them.

The studio crew isn't much better, but if you're quick with the mute button you don't have to listen to Milbury's ignorance.

Steve Downie is now a member of the Colorado Avalanche.

Screw you. Pierre McGuire is the awesomest hockey commentator, and TSN sending him to the US was not, and I repeat NOT an act of terrorism.

Downie to Avalanche, Quincey to Tampa.

Good trade for Tampa

According to Bob McKenzie, Tampa may have turned around and traded Kyle Quincey to Detroit for Detroit's first-round pick.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
I am now hearing TB has traded Kyle Quincey to DET. Working on details but sounds like Quincey to DET for a first-round pick. Verifying.

2012-02-21 04:24:52 PM
Quincey started with Detroit and was cut loose after failing to impress. I can see a lot of pissed of Wings fans if they gave up a first round pick for him.

2012-02-21 04:25:03 PM
Uhh...make that "Detroit, not Tampa Bay".

Interesting if true. Good puck mover with size. Always regretted the Wings losing him off waivers. He's still only 27, too.

I'll believe it when it comes from the twitter account of his brother Doug.

Quincey to Detroit for a 1st-round pick has been confirmed.

Holy shiat.

Interesting. Quincey seemed to be undervalued everywhere he's been, but for a first rounder?

Either way, if the Wings add a guy to their blueline that will finish the year with 30 pts and around 80 PIMs, that's certainly not terrible for them. Plus, I don't know why the hell the Wings let Quincey go a few years ago in the first place.

Now that MSG is back on Time Warner Cable I am looking forward to watching tonight's Rangers game - no more wondering if I'll find a decent stream. Thank you Jeremy Lin!

Killer Cars: I don't know why the hell the Wings let Quincey go a few years ago in the first place.

To keep Meech. Some Wings fans are losing there shiat right now saying that the Wings will probably give up a 2nd round pick to get him back too.

2012-02-21 04:30:37 PM
9beers: I can see a lot of pissed of Wings fans if they gave up a first round pick for him.

A young, top 2 defenseman (well, playing top 2 minutes, anyway) who can move the puck and put points on the board?

I'll give up a 1st round pick for that all day long, especially in this system that's reliant on, but lacking in, depth puck-moving D.

2012-02-21 04:31:44 PM
Full trade is:

Colorado gets:
Steve Downie

Detroit gets:
Kyle Quincey

Tampa gets:
Sebastian Piche
Detroit's 2012 1st-round pick

Confirmed via Bob McKenzie of TSN

2012-02-21 04:33:38 PM
Hahaha now Tampa fans are losing their shiat. They went from being happy about getting Quincy to pissed that they gave up Downie for a late first round pick.
