um... well, in the context of a political ad made today, so, yes.

polifact has got a bad case of "balance." they think that they have to give equal weight to republicans who lie by shooting down democrats who tell the truth. it's pretty pathetic.

And we know that Democrats NEVER lie about republicans or mislead the public by using unsubstantiated statistics to promote their agendas.

Uhhh... They want to abolish the EPA. They keep our water and air safe. They want to cut food and health benefits to children, poor people, and the elderly.

That's kinda their platform. Have you read it?

EnviroDude: Republicans want to poison the air and water. Republicans want to starve the children and freeze the homeless.

Well sure, it's technically true that this is false. Republicans don't WANT to poison the environment and kill the poor.

But they aren't going to pay for any safety net, or 'hamstring' business with regulations. And if people end up starving and freezing because they don't have a job, well, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. It's unfortunate, but not really a Republican problem.

You do realized that "lowered" in reference to contamination levels is actually a stricter regulation, correct?

The Bush administration is continuing to slowly chip away at the Clinton legacy, withdrawing new rules that sharply limit arsenic in drinking water.

The rules, proposed during President Clinton's final days in office, would lower by 80 percent the amount of poisonous arsenic allowed in public drinking water.

The Republican party has a tradition of abusing military veterans dating back to when President Hoover ordered Gen. MacArthur to use tanks to disrupt the Bonus Army's "occupy" action in D.C. in 1932, and continues today with Congressional Republicans opposition to any aid to veterans suffering health effects of modern warfare.
Hell, the GOP has even opposed help for the Ground Zero rescue workers -- mainly because they belong to unions.

Look, it's real simple:

When the Democrats say "Paul Ryan wants to end Medicare as we know it" and what he actually wants to do is completely dismantle the program known as Medicare and replace it with a completely new program different in just about every way, but also known as Medicare, the Democrats are lying.

When the Democrats say "The GI Bill was criticized as welfare but it's the best educational bill we've ever passed" and the opposition at the time called it a "relief" or "dole" program because the term "welfare" hadn't been invented yet, the Democrats are lying.

When the Republicans say "Most of the country is conservative" and the poll shows that 40% of respondents are conservative, they're telling the truth, because 40% is more than half.

Don't you guys get it?

2012-02-21 10:12:07 AM

Nothing new for both sides, or all sides if you will. Once the country gets what it needs the soldier to do for them, it's back to screw3 you, we might have said we would give you this for your service but we did not mean it. Obama is guilty also.
