According to Dr G: Medical Examiner I should have been dead a long time ago.

This is the only possible explanation for the success of ER.

I think of the medical science used in TV shows the same way I think of CSI science.

So lousy it wouldn't make it into Trekkie fan fiction.

So is it wrong that I diagnose myself based what Dr Spaceman says on 30 Rock?

"Why's that baby covered in goop?"

"Because everything about this is disgusting!"

GentlemanJ: Well, one thing's for sure...it's not lupus.

I have a friend with lupus. She has generally negative feelings towards House, because she gets sick of people saying "it's not lupus" to her.

/Plus, it was lupus that one time.

My wife is a fan of that new anti-House show with Dana Delaney and Jeri Ryan....don't recall the exact title, like 'Body of ..." something...evidence, proof...

Anyhow, the first episode I watched with her, and the whole thing was so House it wasn't even funny. They even MENTIONED the "Its not lupus!" joke while, you guessed it, making it Lupus. Well done.

/not mentioning the mental images of being between Jeri Ryan and Dana Delaney.....

Childrens Hospital is the best satire of this crap on television. I'm glad somebody finally made a good parody of the glut of doctor shows on TV.

House is a doctor? Don't doctors (oh, I don't know) actually examine patients and base treatments on some sort of detailed analysis? House just spouts out treatment plans after hearing a one sentence description of the patient. No wonder they almost kill each patient five times before getting the correct answer.

He just picks the most "medically" sounding diagnosis the first time. Sarcoidosis is always in the mix. Between his slipshod diagnosis technique, his chronic drug use and his habit of trying to kill people during emotional outbursts, I might think twice about him as my doctor.

You might get a kick out of this site (new window), where the medicine in each House episode is reviewed by a real doctor.
