I love the "Homer At the Bat" episode but it's somewhere behind my personal favorites list topped by "Homer Goes to College" and "Homer's Enemy" (a.k.a. the episode with Frank Grimes).

Well Mr. Burns had done it,
The power plant had won it,
With Roger Clemens clucking all the while,
Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile,
While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile...
We're talkin' softball...
From Maine to San Diego.
Talkin' softball...
Mattingly and Canseco.
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw.
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law.
We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw.

Very good episode, subby. But El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer is by far and away the best. Johnny Cash as a space coyote just works on so many levels.

Lisa's Rival is my pick for the most underrated episode. The whole Homer's sugar pile subplot just makes the episode great.

"I speak of decency, the moral courage to say what is right and condemn what is wrong," Bush said. "And we need a nation closer to The Waltons than The Simpsons."
LOL, totally forgot that H gave the Simpson's some free publicity back then.
Also, I too thought that the Mattingly sideburns jokes from that episode were an indirect reference to the Yankee's stupid haircut fines he got and didn't realize the dialogue writing and recording of the former preceded the latter.
