A challenger emerges!

Even Hank Scorpio doesn't think he's Larry E.

Knight of the Woeful Countenance: Up and Atom: elvisaintdead: /I'll be in my hammock district.

You know, there's a little place called Mary Ann's Hammocks. The nice thing about that place is Mary Ann gets in the hammock with you! Ha! I'm just kidding.

Also, I am not ashamed to say I read that in his voice.

You are not alone.

Amen. Best Simpson's Episode ever.

Author and subby both need to learn how to masturbate.

Hey guys! How come nobody's mentioning episodes from the last 10 years? Don't you know that the Simpson's haven't changed? They're exactly as good as they've always been!

That said, subby, the brother and I totally did the "Daaarrryyylll" chant at a Tigers vs. Yankees game a few years after that episode aired iirc. My uncle had connections to score pretty decent seats at games around town now and then, so we were certainly within earshot.

I'm sure he loved it, and I'm sure we were the only ones to ever think of it. We just couldn't not do it.

/we got some drunk guys to join in too

My second favourite Simpsons episode ever. I personally think Last Exit to Springfield is the best, but hey, that's just me...

nah the best episode ever is the one where they go on a trip to vegas and homer loses all his money, marge almost cheats withe some singet and bart wins them 4 cars to drive back home using fake ID

2012-02-20 10:42:16 PM
No love for Streetcar Named Marge?

Long before the SuperDome,
Where the Saints of football play,
Lived a city that the damned called home,
Hear their hellish roundelay...

New Orleeeans...
Home of pirates, drunks, and whores!
New Orleeeans...
Tacky, overpriced, souvenir stores!
If you want to go to Hell, you should make that trip
to the Sodom and Gomorrah on the Mississipp'!

New Orleeeans...
Stinking, rotten, vomiting, vile!
New Orleaaans...
Putrid, brackish, maggoty, foul!
New Orleeeans...
Crummy, lousy, rancid, and rank!

New Orleeeans!

Strolpol: I loved that episode, but I think my personal favorite is probably the X-Files parody.

That, and the one with the Planet of the Apes musical.

"Itchy & Scratchy & Marge" might be my very favorite episode of any TV show ever.

/Itchy's and Scratchy's voices, and the theme song on the "nice" cartoons were hysterical.

Look at him strutting around out there like he's cock of the walk! Well, Homer Simpson is the cock of nothing!

I'm beginning to think Homer Simpson wasn't the brillant tactician i thought he was.

And that's the tooth.

dettigersnw22: I thought it was common knowledge that 'Last exit to Springfield' and 'You only move twice' were the top Simpsons episodes...

I may be splitting hairs between "best" and "most important" but I've always thought this is where the genius emerged:

Barney: How long is this going to take?
Bart: About twenty-two minutes and five seconds.

Snout Johnson: Apparently, I'm the only one whose favorites are Lisa on Ice and Bart gets an Elephant.

I'm going to start doing this with my arms, and if you get hit, it's all your fault.

Oh yeah? I'm going to start kicking air like this (huh), and if any part of you should fill that air, it's you're own fault.

"Can I see it?" "Ok, now give it back." "Give what back?"

Interesting. Almost every single episode people are naming here as their favorite is a Homer-centric episode (at least a Homer-centric A-plot). Bart seems to be coming in second, with Lisa and Marge getting outlier votes.

/Monorail episode for me.

Lisa and Marge are the straight men. Indispensable setups for some of the best lines ever, but not usually enough to drive a top ten episode. And I say that as someone who identifies with Lisa.

That episode brought me my all-time favorite lines...

"You don't make friends with salad." (Still as true today as it was back then).

Homer:It's just a little airborne, it's still good! it's still good!
Bart: Dad, it's gone.
Homer (sad): I know

Burns: You know Smithers, I think I'll donate a million dollars to the orphanage!

I know it is only a small segment of a larger Halloween episode, but Citizen Kang gets my vote!

One of the funniest things I've ever heard on this show, and maybe it's just me, was during the Springfield Movie Awards episode when The Critic was a guest.

(Sitting in movie theater)
Barney: *belches*
Woman next to him: "Ugh it smells like something crawled down your throat and died."
Barney: "It didn't die."

I dunno. Lisa had some pretty heartfelt episodes (like "Lisa's Substitute") that certainly deserve mention.

And the "The Twisted World of Marge Simpson" is easily in my top five: Fleet-a-pita, the frame nudging, the mealworms, Whitey whackers, the mob in the church bulletin, Fat Tony and his need for the "moneys," Skinner and his boaking accident, and the freaking Yakuza.

"My name is Agnes and you know it's Agnes. It means lamb. Lamb of God."

"Children are so fat today. Is there someway we could make money off that?"

"Gimbels is gone, Marge. Long gone. You're Gimbels."

Definetly a top 5'er but not the best.

/Scorpio!
He'll sting you with his dreams of power and wealth.
Beware of Scorpio!
His twisted twin obsessions are his plot to rule the world
And his employees' health.
He'll welcome you into his lair,
Like the nobleman welcomes his guest.
With free dental care and a stock plan that helps you invest!
But beware of his generous pensions,
Plus three weeks paid vacation each year,
And on Fridays the lunchroom serves hot dogs and burgers and beer!
He loves German beer!

I feel the need to mention "Homer and Apu". Its defiantly in the running for top 10. Come to think of it, any episode with an original music number from season 2-5 is a classic.

Summer of 4 Ft. 2 is always been a favorite Lisa-centric episode. The illegal fire works bit was an awesome sub-plot. I did not know that Christina Ricci was a guest star until just now.
