It's one of the best, but not THE best. Mr. Plow has that title

Eh? What was that name again?

I love the "Homer At the Bat" episode but it's somewhere behind my personal favorites list topped by "Homer Goes to College" and "Homer's Enemy" (a.k.a. the episode with Frank Grimes).

Well Mr. Burns had done it,
The power plant had won it,
With Roger Clemens clucking all the while,
Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile,
While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile...

We're talkin' softball...
From Maine to San Diego.
Talkin' softball...
Mattingly and Canseco.
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw.
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law.
We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw.

I like King Size Homer best.

"one of"

These words need to be added into the title of this thread for it to be truly cromulent.

Very good episode, subby. But El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer is by far and away the best. Johnny Cash as a space coyote just works on so many levels. Link (new window)

Lisa's Rival is my pick for the most underrated episode. The whole Homer's sugar pile subplot just makes the episode great.

fta: "I speak of decency, the moral courage to say what is right and condemn what is wrong," Bush said. "And we need a nation closer to The Waltons than The Simpsons."

LOL, totally forgot that H gave the Simpson's some free publicity back then.

Also, I too thought that the Mattingly sideburns jokes from that episode were an indirect reference to the Yankee's stupid haircut fines he got and didn't realize the dialogue writing and recording of the former preceded the latter.

No disagreement here. That one is my personal fave as well for many reasons.

You know, there's a little place called Mary Ann's Hammocks. The nice thing about that place is Mary Ann gets in the hammock with you! Ha! I'm just kidding.

No love for Stonecutters in here? That was the episode I used to show friends to get 'em into it. Ahhh, the magic of VCR's...

/You Only Move Twice might be a tie for my favorite episode...

doczoidberg: Monorail, monorail, monorail....

This is the correct answer. Fun fact: Conan did this one and it was seen as the turning point for a lot of the writers for being able to do more far out storylines.

2012-02-20 10:13:43 PM
I thought it was common knowledge that 'Last exit to Springfield' and 'You only move twice' were the top Simpsons episodes...

You said greatest episode, but then you didn't say Cape Feare.

I agree about "Homer Goes To College," but the Frank Grimes one was just depressing. I'd vote for the episode with the lemon tree instead.

These and 22 short films about Springfield are my faves.

That's a funny way of spelling "Homer's Enemy", subby.

I'm partial to the medical marijuana episode.

Bart Sells His Soul.

/thank you, door!
//remember Alf? He's back. In pog form.
///Pablo Neruda says 'laughter is the language of the soul'
////I am familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda!

My dad and brother say Sideshow Bob Runs For Mayor, which I like quite a bit... but the ending of Sells His Soul just makes me smile.

/you know, some people think that nobody is born with a soul. You have to earn one through suffering, and thought, and prayer, like you did last night
//plus "In The Garden Of Eden", baby!

"Now Homer, you're over-stimulated, lets get some beer into you, and then it's straight off to bed."

I loved that episode, but I think my personal favorite is probably the X-Files parody.

That, and the one with the Planet of the Apes musical.
