(Greater Fails)   Jimmy John's sub shop gets Yellow Page listing in Kosher section--which comes as a bit of a surprise to its owner, who's busy prepping a couple of Ultimate Porkers and a JJBLT   (greaterfalls.com) divider line 45

big fan of the #4 Turkey Tom, but lately I've been leaning toward the #11 Country Club.

and I do like that they'll sell you their bread.

/and more often than not, the closer you go in towards closing time, they'll just give you a loaf or two that they were going to throw out anyway.
//the trick is to inquire about the bread after you've paid for your order, that's when they'll decide that it's not worth the hassle of ringing up an extra sale right at closing time, and they'll just give you a loaf to leave.

Since they put very little meat on their sammiches, it's not a problem.

Is this where I come to complain that the Fark headline is longer than the article? I mean, I understand trying to find filler for a slow news day, but wtf is Jimmy Johns and how would I know they don't make kosher subs?

2012-02-20 08:50:50 PM
Like most franchise operations, the suckiness of the location depends on the quality of the franchisee. I have two Subways within a mile and one sucks ass and the other is pretty good. Fortunately the Jimmy Johns franchisee is very good and I have never had a bad sandwich there. Love the #15 and the Gargantuan cut in half for two meals is yummy.

2012-02-20 08:54:25 PM
One day while walking down Peachtree St. at lunchtime, I passed a newly opened Jimmy John's and declined the franchise owner's invitation to dine there.

I never eat at a newly opened restaurant, let them beta test their quality on someone else.

As I had kept on walking, the guy told me to "Have a bad day!" Ok pal, never going to have to worry about eating there, either.

I'm glad to see so many other Farkers hold the chain in the same regard.

Jersey Mikes is pretty good although expensive.

2012-02-20 08:59:24 PM
Jeezus, people. It's a farking chain restaurant. There's a certain limit to how good it could possibly be, and how significant the comparisons to other restaurants actually is. It's an okay sandwich shop, which is to say it's nothing compared to an actual deli. Is it better or worse than Subway? Who cares? Find a real deli.

I wanted a meatball sub. I went to Jimmy Johns (in Castle Rock CO maybe some are different). No meatball subs. WTF sub shop doesnt sell those. Even horsecock Subway sells them. If there was a Firehouse here I'd be a customer.

I don't have any Jimmy Johns near me, but there's one right by my girlfriend's in Jersey. I tried it once and it's decent. Not enough to steal me from the local delis on a regular basis.

Jersey Mike's caters here at work once in a while. It's absolutely disgusting. I really hope it's just this one place since so many people rave about it, but from the dozen times we've had it here, it wasn't even worth eating it for free.

And I sit close to the room they serve them from, so I get to smell the "wonderful" aromas all day... *HORK*

CSB time!

Back in October I interview at jimmy johns corporate for a construction management position. Drove down to Champaign myself. Hotel stay and everything on my dime. Did a group interview and luckily impressed them enough for 3 more interviews over Skype. Then they said they'd called me either way on if I got the position. Never got a call back and when I called I just kept getting ignored.

glad to see someone else exposing that. I put it on his Wiki page a few years ago and they ended up deleting it.

CSB time:

I worked for Jimmy Corporate and I am good friends with a few of the big whigs there and that place is a mess. Between Jimmy's moronic and selfish attitude and a staff of bubbling idiots it was an utter nightmare. Jimmy runs that place like an over bearing parent and he loves the sexual harassment. He had to sell a load of franchises for dirt cheap to a guy in WI because he was all over the guys wife and they were about to press charges.

Jimmy is basically a redneck who was at the right place at the right time and had a lot of smart people make him a lot of money who all left because they got tired of his shiznit. Many of the web features you see now on Jimmy's website were suggested by me 3 years before he even got them off the ground. As far as I am concerned the guy can go bankrupt.

I like how the author spends more time talking about how he is featured on fark, than he does defending JJ.

Jersey Mike's > any other bullsh*t sandwich.

/#13 regular on rosemary Parmesan, mikes way, with the cherry pepper relish. Add bacon if I'm feeling saucy.

Since I live in the culinary hell of Florida...there are almost no actual delis here. By 'actual' I mean one-off mom/pop/shop...Publix (a grocery store here) is always touted a "OMG OMG THE BEST", but for the love of christ they don't even offer red onions as a topping! And the bread is often too dry...especially in the evenings after it has been sitting in the bin for 6+ hours.

Jimmy Johns makes a decent sub. It's fast food, but a better lifestyle choice than a burger or taco bell. Also, the bread is FANTASTIC - I consider it the best of all fast food subbery. For some reason I also love their Mayo.

The Ultimate Porker, my favorite, is 20.5 points on weight watchers...a decent hit for someone on 42 points per day, but worth it once in a while.

I interviewed with Kevin. He was an alright dude. Very laid back, but the interviews weren't a "typical" interview, which I thought was strange. He also completely ignored my phone calls when I was trying to follow up.. Whatever though, I'm with a company in Cleveland now where I want to be.

Yeah Kevin is a fun guy to hang out, he has little man syndrome though. He also lacks any kind of personality and lacks the ability to interact with people on any kind of decent level. I use to party really hard with him and Nic back in the day when my best friend was roommates with Nic. It wasn't unusual for Kevin or Nic to drop 200-300 a night and just get everyone hammered. They bought many a bottle of Crown from the bar so the whole table could get loaded. Those guys were out of control and nothing could stop them.

Jimmy also liked to use his private jet to fly those guys to Vegas or other places they wished. Jimmy snatched both right up out of college and offered them an absurd amount of money which bought their loyalty pretty quickly. I say that because they were fresh out of college and they were running his whole crew and department and they were getting paid mint. That kind of money helped get them to stay around and do exactly what he wanted.

Good luck with the job in Cleveland, last time I was there that place looked like Detroit Lite.

Do you realize that delis (outside of grcery stores) are nonexistent in 99% of the country? I totally agree with you, but have not found a deli outside of NY or NJ.
