As much as I loathe Chris Brown for beating up his girlfriend, I hate Rihanna more for apparently, going back to him. There are many, many, many women in this country and around the world who don't get the fortunate chance of getting away from the guy who abuses them. They're stuck until either they kill their abuser or their abuser kills them. She was able to get out of that relationship, and rather than become someone other young girls in abusive relationships could look to as a beacon of hope, kind of like, "Gee, that famous person could get out of this, maybe so can I", she's done the opposite, and as a woman that's unforgivable.

I don't care if she likes rough sex, or has lots of tattoos, or whatever. None of that is relevant. What is relevant is that she's apparently saying, it's okay to go back to your abuser if X years go by and he promises and pinky swears never to ever do it again.

Tons of domestic violence victims go back to their abusers, even if they are in a financial situation that would allow them to leave. I've seen people leave hidden DV shelters, injuries still healing, and go back to their husbands. It isn't logical because being in an abusive relationship messes with your head. The sad thing is that when they finally get the strength to leave for good sometimes all their friends have written them off and aren't interested in helping any more. I understand finding it frustrating and foolish, but the more DV victims you work with the more clear it becomes that a lot of them are emotionally hurt to the point where logic isn't enough to get them out of the situation. It is wrong to hate or disparage them for it - their abusers have messed with their heads as much as their bodies.
