imontheinternet: If the Russians arm one side, we have to arm the other. Otherwise, those commie bastards will take over the world. Where's Joe McCarthy when you need him? The Soviets must be stopped! Where am I right now? Why is everyone staring at me?

GET OFF MY LAWN!

[systocracy.com image 250x258]

To be fair, his rant about the Russians intervening for the Ossetians is what cost McCain the vote that he got in the Primary.

The Georgians rolled tanks out on their civilian population. The Georgians had been trying to ethnically cleanse the region when the Ossetians asked for the Bolshevik's help, and the one reason that the Georgians hadn't killed off the folks in the area was the presence of the Russian military. When no one in the UN would respond to the pleas of the Ossetians, they turned to the Russians for aid, again, and considering that half of the Ossetians were still Russian citizens, the Russians lent a hand.

McCain ignored the history of the region, and the conflict--including the Georgians cutting off food, medicine and supplies into the area long before the conflict which spurred on the "smuggling" operations that they then cracked down on as a reason to seize property and jail leaders--and instead cried about the Russians rolling their tanks against Georgian armor that had originally been deployed against their own citizens.

I used to respect John McCain--I gladly voted for him in the 2000 Primary, and I was glad to again for 2008--but he lost that vote by being entirely out of touch with the state of affairs overseas.

Another PANCAKES! moment for McCain.

2012-02-20 04:42:36 PM
"The Iranians are already there," said McCain. "They're already there. All reports confirm that. They're already supplying arms and equipment to Bashar Assad, as are the Russians supplying arms, so right now it's an asymmetric situation with Bashar Assad receiving equipment and actual physical help from Iran, Russia - and the Syrian rebels not receiving equal assistance, certainly not very much."

Great! Now we can go to war with Iran, Syria AND the Russians all at once!

mccain is just picking up his paypacket

in the real world the iranians have said a couple of their ships have docked at the russian-controlled syrian port of tartous, nominally to train naval forces per agreement. china is stepping things up publicly, threatening 'foreign intervention' if the west 'continues its support of the syrian opposition.' why?

assad looks to be set to begin a major clampdown on unrest

It's not like they are trying to hide it.

They just parked 2 warships at a Syrian dock.

No, I am no fan of Assad.

This is just another of MANY places where we should mind our own farking business.

Israel is nearby, and they have a WONDERFUL track record of helping their poor, defenseless downtrodden neighbors, don't they?

Let them deal with it.

ha-ha-guy: Iran is selling its fairly shiatty domestically produced weapons and reselling Russian/Chinese weapons to Syria at a markup? It's like they learned to arms deal from us or something.

There is a big difference between giving some APCs and rifles to the Syrian security forces and selling them something that challenges the balance of power.

This is my thought as well. Russia is selling Assad actual useful weapons, fresh off the assembly line. Everything Iran has was bought from Russia anyway.

It's like complaining that a shiatty dive restaurant is selling your fat drunk neighbor Big Macs that they've left in the sun and stepped on a few times, when there's a McDonald's right next door that is loading up trays of hot, fresh Big Macs to sell to your neighbor.

just a couple of hours ago you stated

So aside from the fact that Israel is trying to start WWIII, is causing fuel prices to skyrocket - hurting EVERY American and trashing the economy in general - ASIDE from the fact that supporting this POS nation has made enemies out of half of the world's population...

Aside from that, Israel is just dandy.
