Class act.

Tebow of the NBA.

Don't you mean...

I don't get it, chink in the armor has been around for centuries in a non-racist way.

bunch of pussies getting their sandy vaginas panties in a wad.

What a douche! Has he no righteous indignation?

You mean he's not particularly good, gets lots of airtime anyway, and everyone's confused as to why?

Need "that's wassis" pic.

2012-02-20 02:31:23 PM
So... "Forgive them, for they know not what they do?"

Unlike Tebow, Lin actually is Jesus.

I must be missing something. "Chink in the armor" has nothing to do with race.

2012-02-20 02:32:44 PM
Well, that was mighty white of him.

2012-02-20 02:32:58 PM
Of course it's not racist. Why would a racist get a job writing sports headlines? Every sports story is about minorities completely dominating white men in every conceivable athletic endeavor.

It would be like a tea partier getting a job writing for Mother Jones magazine.

No, but some people call Chinese People 'chinks'. Regardless of the origins of the idiom 'chink in the armor', some people would see racism in it.

a crack, cleft, or fissure - I'm gonna call this one a drastic overreaction and a classy response by Mr. Lin.

Lin is a class act and is not a media whore like Lebron

I know this is a troll but ESPN could have easily gone with the non-racially toned "Achilles' Heel" headline and not change the meaning. There's no way in hell NOBODY saw that headline and didn't think, "Umm, should we be going with 'Chink'?"

I'm just glad this mess is cleaned up. Everything is really spic-and-span now.

Gook of him for doing that. You have to nip the media slant in the butt quickly. It's a slippery slope they're on. They'll need to keep a tight zipper on that talking head from now on.

Imagine, everyone getting upset except the person who they were getting upset for.

Maybe they should have waited to see if Lin was upset, and THEN fired that poor headline writer. Otherwise, stop being such a bunch of PC pussies.

The comparison would make sense if Lin didn't have a zillion more times point guard talent than Tebow has quarterback talent.

Chink? Really? What the frak was ESPN thinking?

2012-02-20 02:38:37 PM
Geeeez.. now if he'd said GOOK in the armor or something... I'd agree, but seriously?! Been ok since the dark ages BUT NOT NOW!!!!

EPSN doesn't even know how many states there are, where they are, what the names of them are, yet go nuts over something as trivial as this.

/Yes, I got the letters screwed up; don't deserve them in the correct order.

...and those people would be idiots, just like these people, and they should be mocked loudly and at length for their lack of knowledge about common (non-racist) idioms and basic vocabulary.

Newsflash. People don't like racism or to be associated with it. Even if the target of the said racism doesn't feel offended by it.

Two of my coworkers who are from China and one of the younger interns had no idea chink was even as slur used against the Chinese. I walked into the break room and they were sitting there trying to figure it out, so I had to explain it all.

It does kind of open the question of at what point would be say "Hey the younger generation doesn't even know it was racist, maybe it was used without malice or realization of the term.".

/professional writers should know better though
//not that ESPN has many of those
/kind of like how if you said "Coon" to a young adult you have decent odds they'd think of South Park long before they thought racial slur

I had a guy teaching a class I had to take who has CP. Now he's bright, funny, engaging, but he went full derp when he told us handicapped came from standing around with your cap in hands.

I had to wait until I passed to course to email him the snopSnopes article (new window)

People shouldn't be handicapped by their own ignorance.

Because Asians take the high road and make racism beneath them. While black people and white guilt liberals love to play the victim card instead.

I figured we already knew this?
