I will not give my entry for stupidest name,

instead the best: Joe Walsh "You Bought It, You Name It"

I like a young Johnny Cougar's:

I think that album title is pretty cool, actually.

Guess what's going to number three on my "stupidest articles I've ever clicked on" list?

2012-02-19 09:23:32 AM
It's not the best album title ever, but it doesn't inspire comparison to the worst.

2012-02-19 09:25:35 AM
There is not one album on that list that I would even put in a Top 100 of stupidest album titles.

Cracked actually has a pretty good list (new window).

JasonOfOrillia: Cracked actually has a pretty good list (new window).

Shock and Y'all

has got to be in the top 5. Country music has become a caricature of itself ever since Billy Ray Cyrus hit the scene.

Ironically, Miley is doing the same for pop music today.

Why is that ironic? Wouldn't we have all expected that? Besides when was pop music ever not ridiculous.

One presumes Peter Gabriel gets a pass for his FOUR self-titled albums.

/or Diana Ross, for two Diana Rosses, two Dianas and one Ross

Wow, what a crappy list, not one of those album titles, including Cee-lo where particularity "stupid".

Plus they listed Weezer's self titled album as if they are they only ones to do that, here's the Wikipeida list of self title albums since it's was too long for me to count, plus there's quite a few with multiple self-titled albums.

Seal needs to play catch up, he's only got three self titled albums.

Billy Preston had an album titled "Everybody Loves Some Kind Of Music". I think it was Creem magazine who gave it a 2 word review...."Wanna Bet?"

My vote would be for "See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah! City All Over, Go Ape Crazy" by Bow Wow Wow.

So all the crappy album titles came out only in the last two decades? I am sure.

Cee-Lo Green is like the Winona Ryder of music.

Winona can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. Mermaids? Don't care. Age of Innocence? Don't care. Shoplifting? Don't care. She gave the world Veronica Sawyer and she's got a lifetime pass in my book

Same with Cee-Lo and fark You.

If they're going to rip on Weezer for having three albums called "Weezer", they should have totally trashed Chicago.

And "Cee-Lo Green is Everybody's Brother" is not a bad album title IMHO.

In a world of music that includes people like John Cage, I think the title "When The Pawn..." was a kinda interesting conceptual idea. Somebody was bound to do something like that someday anyway. It's just a poem, and it's kind of cool that now the first three words of the poem evoke the memory of the whole title and how unusual it was at the time. I saw it on the list, and I was like "Oh yeah, hadn't thought about that one in years. That was actually pretty ballsy." And while it's not a great poem, I wouldn't call it stupid... and again it is still a thousand times better title for an album than "Chicago 30, Chicago 31, Chicago 32, ect..." As someone who worked in a record store for many years, I can't imagine someone putting together a "stupidest album titles ever" list that didn't include Chicago.

All these album titles on this list are not that bad. I even think "Dookie" is a pretty good title for a punk album actually, no stupider a word than "Bollocks." The only title there that could belong on this list is "Chocolate Starfish..." and even that one is so awful it kind of achieves a sort of... something. I suspect it was meant to gross people out, and its mission was accomplished.

Article headline: Stupid album titles
Article content: Examples of artists just not taking that whole album naming thing seriously enough for RedEye. Don't they know they're supposed to be artists and full of pathos and take this shiat seriously?

Though it's far, far later, I think this title is their best, and possibly the best of all time:

Other than theirs, I think this is my favorite album title I've ever seen, though:
