Curse of the Goth Kids: Callista Gingrich would've put on her cleats and stomped the shiat out of his foot?

No, she would have unhinged her jaws and swallowed him whole.

Good for MO... Not a fan of her husband, but find MO to be very likable and very real.

As for the little fark who wore a Ron Paul t-shirt to the White House, wtf is wrong with you son? Show some damned respect for the "People's House" and dress appropriately. Damn, you don't have to wear a flippin tuxedo, but could you at least dress as you would if your were attending church... And if you cannot afford at minimum khakis and a collard shirt, you could at minimum save the "I'm voting for someone other than the current guy" t-shirt... You may not like the current head of household at 1600 Penn, but he earned the right to be there by the results of the 2008 election.

I don't think First Lady Gingrich will want White House tours brought to her.

Callista Gingrich doesn't want to be fed. Callista Gingrich wants to HUNT.

Who the hell wears a T-shirt on a tour of the White House, let alone a political one? The First Lady handled it well by ignoring it. The "awkward" was only on the part of the teenager.

Benevolent Misanthrope: So, what you're saying is, a true First Lady would have biatch-slapped him? Should have biatch-slapped him? Any first Lady who sees someone supporting someone other than her husband should snub that person?

What's your point, smitty?

So farking this.

Democracy is not a perfect system, no one said it was. It is a better system then other systems. Can it be improved on yes but when you have a system where you must get a majority (or plurality) to put people in power it take compromise. Most people don't like compromise but that's how government needs to work.

If everyone voted only for politicians that stood for 100% they wanted then no one would get more than 1 or 2 votes each. I find it sad that people really don't understand the how and why of our democratic system anymore. They have this fallacious belief that democracy was created to get the best candidate in the US. It wasn't, it never was meant to. It was to find people that a majority would go "I can live with this guy in charge."

RON PAUL t-shirt in the White House?! What a brave patriot. If only there was some newsletter similar minded people could subscribe to.

LindyJohn: Who the hell wears a T-shirt on a tour of the White House, let alone a political one?

Teenagers.

But then again, it's a tour, not a state visit. If he was dragged to that AND the various monuments, the Capitol and assorted other rigmarole I'm not really going to slate him for dressing comfortably. And at least by advertising a candidate he's taking an interest in the whole citizenship thing. I'm not really seeing a problem anywhere in this really.

It would be so awesome if this was Mrs. Obama deliberately trolling this little fat Ron Paul fanboy, but because she's a class act she would never do something to deliberately embarrass even someone who looked like he came to the White House on his own mission to troll.

She's a good person, and I'm not because I'm laughing at how incredibly awkward that must have been for the kid.

I get that and I realize that dress standards have disappeared in the last two generations. However, crap situations like this highlight the reasons why societal dress standards exist in the first place.

Someone above mentioned that he should have worn Khakis and a collared shirt at a minimum, and I agree. Dressing for ultimate comfort in all situations is just plebian and corsens public culture. This is just one small example of why and how that happens. Kid should have known better. I have kids of my own and hope that they would. I also hope that public standards of dress come back in vogue...

Corvus: "Awkward"? Seems like "Handled with class" is more like it.

Came to say this. I almost hear lament in the writer's voice. "Rather than taking a jab at the Republican primary, Mrs Obama opted to avoid the issue all-together."

Well, sure. That's how normal people behave around kids with tee shirts. Not sure why this is even reported, even by Daily Mail standards.

Wasn't that the guy who was EDITED OUT of the Maine Caucas?

There were a bunch of counties that had Paul in the lead.
In the official tallies, ALL of those counties read 0 votes, no votes for any candidate.
They still do- They never fixed it.

So, yeah- I guess we will just ignore that....

The system is a joke, and it's in your face about it.

Yes. There was a thread here about it and everything. The irony of the situation is that it seems to be mostly Republicans ignoring it (except Representative Paul's supporters in the party). I'm not his biggest fan, but he deserves more of a fair shake than that.

Shameful.

The candidates we are offered now stand for nothing except money and packaging. Every major issue of the day is researched with focus groups, and then divided into two idiotic opposing "camps" of opinion, with pictures and arrows. Hence the rasslin' match analogy. We are discussing this in a thread about a t-shirt slogan. Awkward? Why? Was he seated in the wrong section? Idiotic.

Oversimplification is the bailiwick of the uneducated. A better system than all the others? Bipartisanship? Seriously? How surprising that you would reach that conclusion.

But hey-pretty soon the Astros will be in the AL West and get the opportunity to beat up on Seattle several times a year, and potentially avoid the cellar. On the other hand, AL West.

The only thing I saw in the video that bothered me were the rednecks wearing their hats in someone's house. Wearing a t shirt is understandable if you're spending the day hiking around the mall etc, but taking off a hat is a pretty easy thing to do at the spur of the moment
