I hope NASCAR is happy with themselves. If they don't put the inch back on that rear spoiler (and then some), the 500 is gonna be a farkin' wreckfest that no one will survive unscathed. Even if there are only two cars left by the last lap, they'll wreck each other!

PUT THE GODDAMN SPOILER BACK!

Once again, I feel the need to commend NASCAR officials on their decision making skills. It looks like their objective of getting on all the highlight reels on the anniversary of Dale Earnhardt's death has succeeded.

I am genuinely afraid for what may occur in the 500.

ironhead: FiendishFellow05:And for pete's sake, Danica's no worse off than any other rookie. In fact, she's got seat time from running in the Nationwide series that some other drivers have gone into the 500 without. She's far from an "inferior" driver. Try again, "man's man".

Danica's far from inferior to the best drivers in NASCAR? Really? So she's already as good as Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, et al? And I'm not dogging on Danica because she's a woman; I'm dogging on her because of the hype surrounding a driver who hasn't even raced a Cup car yet. No need to try again, "asshole."

Yeah, all that hype? It's because the media is doing what it's done every time a woman's driven a stock car(see Robinson, Shawna): Treat it like a novelty, instead of the norm.

If the media treated her like any other driver, this issue would be non-existent. Place the blame where it belongs.

And I never implied she was as good as Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon. Just that by virtue of actually spending some time in the Nationwide series, she's got a leg up on some of the other half-wits who've stepped into a Cup car with almost no stock car experience. See: Conway, Kevin; Franchitti, Dario; Keselowski, Brian; Lally, Andy; Carpentier, Patrick.

To call her inferior implies that she's worse than any other rookie out there. Tha's simply not true.

vegaswench: Gordon, you liar, you punted Kyle and it backfired.

I don't think he was trying to intentionally wreck him, doing that at Talladega/Daytona is just asking to kill someone.. I think he was channeling his inner Dale Earnhardt and just move him up to the outside lane.

I didn't realize that Gordon hasn't flipped a car before during a race. The interviewer said that this was his first time upside-down. That doesn't sound right.

And... again.

I guess he took his 5 hour energy too early in the day and crashed out.

If there's a voice of reason left in NASCAR, they need to enlarge the spoiler.

I can imagine this is exactly what NASCAR is looking for. Ever since the inception of the COT, drivers who can adjust the car to drive fast and loose have excelled.

They're going back to the days where cars are on the edge of control and it just takes a little bump to get a car out of shape and spinning. After the last season where there were fewer cautions than in the past decade or so, you're gonna see more more non-NASCAR-manufactured-phantom debris cautions and more cars in the wall, spins, and wrecks.

ironhead: Did I hear Jeff Hammond correctly? NASCAR isn't allowing the drivers to talk to each other over the radio. JFC, the rules are getting ridiculous! Don't want them racing in tandem? Take the farking restrictor plates off and let them farking race! J!F!C!

Agreed. I really liked listening in on the communications between everyone. NASCAR really screwed the pacedog on that one.

funk_soul_bubby: For NASCAR fans who don't dip into IndyCar also, I'd just like to say, you're welcome. No thanks necessary, she is our gift to you FOREVER!

First you try to give us cats and now Danica?

Speaking of MRN, both MRN and PRN will be streaming their races online this year.

MRN (new window)

PRN (new window)

Seems the death grip Turner/NASCAR.com had on online rights is being pried loose.

I had never seen that. That's awesome. My neighbor is a big Smoke fan and actually named his cat Smoke. I'm printing that out and framing it for him.

/Yes you can like NASCAR and cats

Damn right you can!

Let the cheating begin

I saw that, and in the JJ/Chad "Cheat2Win" Knaus thread, I stated that it seemed like Tkat took the 48 idol out for a test drive :).
