My favorite part is how he initially denied having any relationship with the dude. As if it's totally normal for straight guys to send shirtless photos of themselves to gay guys, and pose with their hands on the other dude's pecs. He was just checking his muscle tone!

I still can't get my mind around why any gay person would ever be affiliated with the Republican Party. Seriously - what is so damned attractive about the GOP that people are willing to deny who they are and live a lie to be affiliated with them? I mean, I'm fairly conservative about many things - especially economics and immigration law - but that is not nearly enough to make up for the rest of the platform, or the fact that they want to make me a second-class citizen for being gay, or the fact that their entire goddamn party has devolved into a bunch of farking lunatics.

I simply don't get it.

Nah, I'm female. Only guys get the sexysexy in the GOP. Wimminfolk are referred to as "family values" and should stay home and see to the children. And they certainly shouldn't enjoy sex - if they did that, we'd have to talk about birth control for the straight ones. And the GOP men would have to sleep with them.

As almost always, West Wing provides a quote:

"I agree with 95% of the Republican platform. I believe in local government. I'm in favor of individual rights rather than group rights. I believe free markets lead to free people and that the country needs a strong national defense. My life doesn't have to be about being a homosexual. It doesn't have to be entirely about that."

I think it's a load of shiat when that party also has a hysteria against you that almost borders on calling for the death of all gay people, but still, that's the best I can do.

Nice quote, and pretty much where I stand - but I still can't figure how any gay person can not understand that, much as they may love the Republican Party, the Republican Party wants them to not exist. One way or another.

I did spend several years thinking, "Oh, it's not about gay. It's about changing the Party form the inside - I can vote Republican and still be gay and it's not an issue." But it is an issue. It's pretty farked up, actually.

And lesbians would be raped to "straighten us out". Don't laugh - its not uncommon for lesbians of a certain age to have been threatened with just that. Even from our own fathers.

Why go through all that. All you need is some to scream at mom, beat a pillow with a tennis racket and follow it up with a cuddle.

It's understandable. It's why I'm a Rockefeller Republican who's very likely to vote for Obama *again* in 2012. Now, had Huntsman been given a chance to get the nom, or Johnson, I'd consider voting for one of them. The current cadre of cretins does nothing for me.

Oh, and speaking of West Wing quotes:

Weaver95: what? did the sheriff trip and accidentally stick his dick a gay man?

Sheriff Babeu: About a week ago I accidentally slept with a man.
Sheriff "Joe": [pause] Really?
Sheriff Babeu: Yes.
Sheriff "Joe": You accidentally slept with a man?
Sheriff Babeu: An illegal immigrant.
Sheriff "Joe": Accidentally?
Sheriff Babeu: Yes.
Sheriff "Joe": I don't understand. Did you trip over something?

We all are who we are. We all are what we are.Whether by birth or upbringing or mature judgement, we are just people. Every American, regardless of race or creed or sex, no matter how furious and loud the denials, has at some time felt the urge to join us. Degrading and disparaging us is one of the last publicly condoned and applauded bigotries. Many will pretend to sit in judgment and sneer and snicker, but we were always here. We were at the first Thankgiving, both among the Pilgrims and the Native Americans. . We have served valiantly in all of America's wars. We have been honored by election to even the highest offices. We are as American as apple pie. We should no longer hide in shadows and shame. We should walk upright in the sun! It is time! IT IS TIME! Say it with me! I am a hypocrite!

I hope that his sexuality is tolerated by his constituency, but Pinal County is a little too close to the derpicenter. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, we have had some openly gay republican politicians do well in this state, Giffords' predecessor, Jim Kolbe comes to mind.

The real story here is that farking terrible tribal tat he has. I'm glad he got outted because it tanks the chance of someone like that being elected to office.
