fat aristotle: wizden: I would never sully my Bourbon session like that.

Fine then. I'm drinking my last 2 cans of Furious before I come in.

goddammit that's different.

I was a jocknerd. Sports and partying on Saturday, Sunday it was getting up early to do some reading then having friends over to play Magic the Gathering, Risk, Scrabble or poker. My parents were extreme prudes about dating, (not even supposed to have a girl as a friend until I'm 18) So I would go on AOL to find hook-ups in different parts of the city so my parents wouldn't find out from my friends or their parents.

Ride my bike and play video games.

My hobbies haven't changed since I was six years old, though the Colecovision and Huffy are now a PC and Trek.

Senior year was farking awesome. I worked out my schedule so that I had study hall my last 2 periods every day and I was out the door by 1:30. On Mondays I was too farking tired to do anything but go home to take a nap and recover from the weekend. Tuesdays and Thursdays I worked from 2-10. Wednesdays were what I lived for. My GF at the time went to a different school so I'd pick her up and take her back to my place where we'd fark like rabbits. On weeknights after work and/or copious amounts of sex, I'd be playing either Ultima or Wasteland. Sometimes I'd play a somewhat obscure game called Starfleet I. On weekends after work and/or copious amounts of sex, I'd meet up with my buddies, who also just finished an evening of work and/or copious amounts of sex. Oh to be young again. Eat, sleep, fark, and have no real responsibility other than to show up for school and work a menial job in order to pay for gas, Meister Brau, and condoms.

/Yeah, that's right. Meister Brau! Now get off my lawn.

rehearsals/gigs with various bands:

I played bass in a band. We never got any gigs--or any girls, for that matter--but we sure annoyed everyone's parents and neighbors. ("Turn it down! There are children sleeping here. Don't you boys know any nice songs?")

The effort was doomed from the start. My friends were all into hair-metal and I was the lone holdout into synthpop.

It was an important life lesson--namely, that you can suck badly at something and still have a great time doing it. Also, the guitar player is still one of my best friends 30 years later.

/there was just enough room to cram the drums in the corner over by the Dodge
//life was totally destroyed by music

I spent 50 at the liquor store today on 4 cans of beer and 1 bottle. I'm either doing it very right or very wrong.

Eight hours of videogames a day. I was a god of combat at Last Blade and Last Blade 2 in those days.
That and Garou Mark of the wolves. Man, I had no life in those days but I really didn't care.

A Bloody Disaster: slc11082: I sat at home hating myself.
13 years later I'm still doing the same thing.

It's okay, bro... I play internet chess too.

Not me,
I was the dorky nerdy guy that barely passed.

Before or after I had a girlfriend? Because that changed everything.

I was one of those people who sort of got along with everyone, though I wasn't Mr. Popularity or anything. I played lacrosse so I was in with the jocks, but I was cool with nerds and theater/music kids as well. I had my main group of friends, but no matter who I was with I wasn't entirely out of place.

I didn't really drink until junior year, but once I did it was game on. One guy I hung out with had parents who didn't care so we went to his house a lot. Sometimes someone else's house. Otherwise, a lot of hanging out at diners and Dunkin Donuts and randomly driving around when we were bored. And poker. Even though I was decent at poker I came to hate it because it got to be what my friends always wanted to do, especially when we couldn't think of anything else. To this day I almost never play.

My one main regret was that I had no confidence with girls at all, and since high school I've been told by quite a few girls that I was more attractive than I thought. I only got very little action and probably missed out. Most of the girls that I went to high school with were not at all my type, but still.

Do you work downtown?

I do and I can meander home that way. It's loltastic at that liquor store. They have a really really good selection of wines and whiskeys for such a sh*tty neighborhood. Hell, for any neighborhood. Someone there knows what they're doing. Total junkie cash register girls too.

And why would someone on welfare be spending $50 on booze?

9th through 11th grade weekends were spent hanging out at the nearby abandoned strip mine area we called, surprisingly, the strip pits, where many a pack of cigarettes smoked, booze drank, and bb's and slingshots shot at bottles and random targets... Interspaced with weekends of Nintendo's Legend of Zelda when the weather was nasty...

Senior year I had to juggle time between the girlfriend and pals where we would play Mechwarrior or D&D RPG's or times when we'd have full blown battlemech fights where one of us would come up with a scenario and limits, and then the next week we'd fight it out, with the winner coming up with the next scenario...

Yes, I was a geek, but one who could probably shoot your eye out...
