UCFRoadWarrior: MSNBC liked Buchanan because he was anti-Semitic, anti-Israel....most Dems and Libs are anti-Semite and anti-Israel these days (look how they pander to Muslims). Pat must have been saying stuff a little more truthful....

gonna bite.

You do know that liberals aren't anti-Jewish, but have disagreements with the nation-state of Israel and its political leadership, not necessarily the denizens of a particular ethnic group, right?

Of course you do, but that wouldn't fit your neat little narrative.

...and yet for some bizarre reason 70-80% of Jews in the USA still vote for the Democrats and are left-leaning. Can you guess why that is?

(hint: the party of bigotry isn't fooling anyone with their supposed-Judeophilia.)

/hoping Pat speaks at the Republican Convention
/hoping he reuses his 1992 speech
/witches and sodomites and darkies, oh my!

Pat Buchanan was outed by MSNBC? Well, I'm not really surprised he turned out to be one of those self-loathing...

What? Ousted?

Oooooooooooh.

Or in plain-spoken English, "Good luck over at Fox News, and don't let the door smack you on the ass on your way out."

Yep, he'll fit right in next to Glenn Beck and Lou Dobbs.

Also...
"I know these blacklisters," he wrote. "They operate behind closed doors, with phone calls, mailed threats and off-the-record meetings. They work in the dark because, as Al Smith said, nothing un-American can live in the sunlight."

Well, I guess conservatives would know all about that, now wouldn't they?

What movie is that from? Should I be embarrassed to ask?

Tombstone and yes.

What's worse is I've seen it. I usually remember stuff like that.

// Tombstone is the only western I liked
// unless you count Firefly

It's after Bill Paxton gets killed. The Earps all load up their wagons and are riding out of town. Wyatt stops next to Curly Bill and says "We're leaving, this is over" or something like that, I seem to remember he makes it into a bit of a speech. And Curly just looks at him and says. "Well...bye." It's so farking deadpan it's just hilarious.

I like the version of the picture without the words. You're in a thread about someone reprehensible either leaving an organization or dying and as you scroll down you come to that smirking, "I don't give a fark" face. It gets me every time.

Is this what you're going with, today? You're going to bash MSNBC for viewership because they fired a bigot? Not sure its the strategy I'd go with, but to each his own.

Well, you could start here, but he claims in his book that Jews are aborting themselves out of existence, based on the 'proof' that there are fewer Jews in the US than there were in 1990 (there are 20% more), and because Justice Ginsberg is jewish.

canyoneer: thurstonxhowell: The perfect Fark Independent response. Congratulations.

A bleat from the Fark Democratic Committee©.

But seriously: Do you watch MSNBC? You know, the viewership of that fine program can be measured in parsecs. Why, the entire universe of cable news blabber must be avidly followed by at least 3.213% of the population day-in and day-out. I think it's only exceeded by the teeming masses who watch the government access channels.

It is a mistake to equate quality with viewership numbers. Sure, sometimes the two variables have a direct relationship, but quite often they have an inverse one.

How can you get upset about a chapter title? What is in the chapter... sure but a title? It kinda smacks of someone that only opened up to the glossary and screamed outrage.

Granted this being Pat..... but still.

BTW, it's great to see a Republican who isn't afraid to kick it anti-Semitic old skool style. Conservatives berate the "liberal media" these days when back in Pat's day they called it the liberal Jew media or just "the Jew media and their Jew York Times".

These days all the Republican kids are hip to liking Jews again so that they all die in Israel for Jesus or something, but ol' Pat is still keeping it real. Shine on you crazy racist!

They like Jews as long as they don't have to see or interact with them. As long as they live "over there" they're fine.

No, it's a mistake to equate viewership numbers to a measure of distance. And a pretty long distance at that.

DROxINxTHExWIND: Is this what you're going with, today? You're going to bash MSNBC for viewership because they fired a bigot? Not sure its the strategy I'd go with, but to each his own.

It's not a strategy. I'm merely pointing out that it's a tempest in a teapot. Half the people in this benighted land have checked out of politics entirely, and of the other half, probably 20% follow politics regularly - usually in the form of self-affirming propaganda. And of that number, probably 10% regularly watch the grotesque spectacle that is cable news politics coverage. Some racists have websites, other write little books, and some get a few minutes of air time every week on a bad TeeVee show watched by a vanishingly-small percentage of We The People. I mean really: Who watches this crap, anyway? Especially the segments where they have five or seven self-important hair helmets hollering at each other incoherently, and who in their right mind would watch crass propaganda organs like FOX or MSNBC at all? It must be that small demographic of sad people who suffer from the bizarre delusion that they "have a voice" in America's "democratic process," and "participate" by watching these clown shows.

Well, old Patty Buchanan has been silenced now, by gum! It's either a great victory for justice and understanding, a travesty of politically-correct censorship, or a meaningless gesture by a tinny little voice in an irrelevant, microscopic universe of pap. You've probably figured out by now that I think it's the latter of the three. And BTW, how many of his little books did Pat Buchanan sell? A few thousand? By golly, his little squeak in the cacaphony of millions of little squeaks must be silenced, or else, you know, uh, something. Now, if we can just see off that annoying Tebow guy.

My cat likes extra sharp cheddar cheese.

So is Jesse Jackson.

Having on TV doesn't mean much at all, particularly considering he's a long time MSNBC contributor and it was known how farked up he was BEFORE MSNBC signed him up. Talking about Fox News and Limbaugh means little considering that(it means little for MSNBC as well). They job of any of these shows/networks isn't to conform to PC norms, it's to provide viewpoints. They aren't creating news, after all, they're discussing and analyzing existing news.

Being decended from people from the old country, yes Ireland, though my family goes back to Colonial Boston, well before the Civil War. both Mon and Dad, all four grandparents, 6 out of 8 great grand parents and so on, were of Irish decent.

I wondered about all of the stereo types of Irish people. No one in my family drinks alcohol. as far as we have geneolgy records, none have ever been in Jail. None of us have been particularly religious, and I am an athiest.

Then I saw Pat Buchanan on TV. Now I understand why for generations there were signs all over America saying "No Irish", why it is called, "The Paddy Wagon", why the British spent so long trying to exterminate the Irish.
the mere fact that a person like Pat can claim Irish decent is something I will be embaressed about, and damaged by for the rest of my life.

at some point don't you have to justify to the current population (blacks and whites) completely remaking the ethnic, cultural, and economic makeup of a nation for your own selfish political purposes when it harms their economic viability?
as far as I know, this has never been done in the history of the world. the democratic party has conspired with the big business to import millions upon millions of workers and new voters, so much so in fact that the entire culture of america will change.

You're telling people not to draw conclusions about Republicans because this guy couldn't even get a nomination. He couldn't get the nomination, but plenty of right-wingers view him as being relevant enough to have him on regularly.

I guess you're right, though. If we're going to generalize, we should just stick with people who have managed to secure nominations.

I just don't see the harm in being at least meh regarding Israel. That area is one of the last vestiges of the cold war. They were all divided up into client states of one or the other of the super powers and they all milked those relationships for all that they were worth. I don't feel any special allegiance to them because of the "holy lands". When Syria falls I think that Israel is going to be hard pressed not to come to realistic terms with their neighbors. Something that they haven't been willing to do until now because they could hide behind us. I'm not in any way saying that they shouldn't exist as a state but I think that the whole concept of a nation of, by, and for the jewish peoples makes about as much sense as us thinking that this is a nation of, by and for christians. There are reasons why our founders chose to make our government secular.
