Are you utterly flabbergasted!?

No. But I'm doing my part to reverse this trend of awful beer consumption in the United States.

2012-02-17 09:08:18 AM
You know what's awesome?

Having control of the beer I drink and a complete lack of giving a f*ck about the beer other people drink.

2012-02-17 09:32:38 AM
Good, more good beer for the rest of us.

2012-02-17 09:32:44 AM
Look, I like awesome beer as much as the next person, and have bottles in the cooler, but I still almost always have Miller or something in the kegerator. Almost everybody will drink it, you can drink it all damned day long when football is on without getting hammered, and I can fill up a pot to boil brats or something whenever I want.

2012-02-17 09:40:41 AM
Wow, 19.2 market share. That's huge.

Now go back to drinking your fruity Belgian pansy boy ale.

2012-02-17 09:52:27 AM
Subby, it says top selling beers in America, last time I checked Mexico and Holland were not part of the United States.

2012-02-17 09:57:22 AM
I can remember when Bud had something like 50% of the total market.

2012-02-17 10:02:47 AM
So combined with regular Bud, 3 out of every 10 beers sold in America is a Bud product.

2012-02-17 10:10:32 AM
People are still talking about those stupid farking frogs..

No they're not.

... and I still have one friend who answers his phone with that obnoxious "WHASSSSSSUP?!"

No he doesn't.

2012-02-17 10:21:35 AM
Well, I admit I drink the Bud Light Lime. But I pretty much use it as a lower calorie replacement for Coke Classic.

I know, doesn't make any sense to me either, but I could pretty much drink the Bud Light Lime along with water for my daily fluid intake, except for at work.

When I am out and want a BEER, I tend to get something else. Depending on my mood could be Killian's, Sam Adam's, Blue Moon...

/PS: Cannot stand the taste of most diet sodas, so I would rather drink Bud over those...

OK, diet soda has 0-1 calories, Bud Light Lime is about 100 calories. Or is that your joke?

I do enjoy a good micro-brew but for some reason an ice cold Miller High Life (it says champagne right on the label) tastes damn good after working outdoors in the summer heat. I apologize to no one. I know what I like.

Where the hell is the Lone Star?

2012-02-17 10:47:54 AM
The real atrocity here is that more than half the list is foreign-owned. We don't even drink American beer anymore.

2012-02-17 10:47:58 AM
I tried a Bud Light Platinum the other night. Not bad at all and at 6%, it's stronger than all the other common beers.

2012-02-17 10:48:43 AM
Is this were everyone finds a pic of the most obscure beer they can find and pretends that it's all they drink?

2012-02-17 10:48:43 AM
*peeks in* ...oh, beer thread? its been days since we had one..

My beer is so nice, it cooks me dinner, does the dishes, blows me and then knows to go home when its done.

(and gets me drunk, but its the witty drunk and not the sloppy kind)

:-)

is that better than shiner bock?

2012-02-17 10:48:54 AM
There is no excuse for drinking any of those beers. None. Zero. It's like buying bottled water, it is pure 100% money wastage.

2012-02-17 10:49:16 AM
After the third beer, you might as well switch to a light beer. It has all the alcohol and none of the carbs. No sense wasting calories on the part of beer that doesn't make you drunk, right? And after the third beer, taste is no longer a factor.

2012-02-17 10:49:35 AM
I like a hoppy beer as much as the next guy, but as said up thread, you can't go to a game and drink 15 Rogues, you are gonna get the cheap beer and drink all day. And probably a lot of those sales come from inside venues where Bud or Miller is the official beer and you can't get a fancy beer anyway.

2012-02-17 10:49:38 AM
Wow, it's only February and they already know the beer sales for the entire year.

oh ALSO: your beer is a cheap scabby whore that will pick up tricks anywhere - a funeral, ER or at the bus station.

and it makes you stupid and fat.

Gee, the bimbo who wrote the article likes Guinness, a euro-lagers, and mentions only one US made craft beer.

She can go suck balls.

Drink local

It's January, there is no heat. Plus, Miller is shiatty

I am able to happily report, I don't drink a any of the beers on that list.

2012-02-17 10:52:04 AM
You know what? Craft beers are fine and all, but when I want a beer for refreshment (which is most of the time), I'm going to go for something cheap and light, and a Monk's Ass Hoppy Wheat Yeastsplosion ain't that.

10. Miller High Life: 2.3%

"Are you utterly flabbergasted!?"

What? Don't be a farking idiot. Americans have never really liked beer. They prefer carbonated piss with a dash of alcohol.

Among the writers favorite beers is Guinness. That's total weak sauce, about as weak as 9 our of 10 beers on the list.

Most American's are stupid. Stupid people are poor. Poor people can't afford good beer. Nuff said.

A lot of King Cobra and Steel Reserve is sold at my corner store, they always have some kind of tallcan deal going on. As a teen we used to obtain 211 cans by the case for awhile, I think it was only $24, cheaper because there were usually others pitching in.

Of course, if you were to judge American beer by Steel Reserve, even Budweiser is a bastion of flavor. I mostly see Bud Light and Mexican beer around here, and Ill drink it to be polite, but Id want other countries judging us off our craft brews more than anything.

This makes perfect sense to me. When I drink for pleasure, I drink a few crafts (471 Small Batch currently in fridge). But when I drink to forget, tailgating, etc... I drink something like Busch light and a LOT more of it.

I already said it doesn't make sense to me either. If I was serious about cutting the calories, I could do the flavored waters or something like that. I just found myself buying the Bud and just followed down that path.

Maybe the only joke is the one I am playing on myself...
