... Huh? My girlfriend made me get a facebook account so I could look at all the pictures she posts. I was able to set up my account with my common character/gaming name. And it's not at all like a "normal" name. Maybe times have changed.

Either way, I've long since deleted that account. I'm not one of those anti-facebook hipsters... I get the appeal of it all. It just doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll actually delete it instead of just deactivating it. I don't know why there is no delete profile button. Well, of course I do know why, but I don't think they should be able to prevent you from deleting your account.

I've been using "Obviousfakename" for so very long
I don't think the guys running FB have a very good system to verify anything about anyone, who farking cares about their "policy"?
