That just seems like more work than it's worth.

As someone who has been arrested for a crime he did not commit, a felony no less, and out of nowhere unlike this paperbator, I find this mans shenanigans to be wholly stupid, mildly bemusing, and not entirely un-amusing.

Wrongfully arrested thread?

I wasn't arrested, but I was interrogated as a suspect for a crime that I didn't commit. Even worse, there was no crime at all. I was accused of stealing money from a customer's house, from a locked box underneath her bed in her bedroom. The only time I went into the customer's house was to run an extension cord from just inside her front door to the outside. Turns out, the lady was senile, and her family members had to tell the cops that there was no such money. (Either that, or the family members stole it). In any case, they dropped the investigation.

Sad part is, I was never told any of this. I was brought in as a suspect and interrogated, and never received any follow up. My employer had to call the police station for an update, and he passed the information along to me.

Sure, you can blame him and revoke his vanity plate... Or you could, y'know, change your procedures to something that WON'T fit on a licence plate, like say, "No license plate"

Eh, who am I kidding. This is the DMV we're talking about. We're lucky they know how to spell "tags."

You know, I'd think it more the case where this man could never get a ticket because the system is flawed. Or even better yet, he could sue for something another. fark, maybe he should get shafted. I have no want of vanity plates, I try to be completely nondescript in my ride.

Posted this the other day... didn't get greenlit, but I found it very odd:

"A League Two footballer has been cleared of attacking a woman in a London nightclub.

Joshua Scott was found not guilty of common assault at the Old Bailey over the incident involving Charlotte Wheeler at the Mayfair Club in August 2010.

He was bound over to keep the peace for 12 months and fined £250."

jack21221: Wrongfully arrested thread?

Coincidentally enough, in 1972 I was sent to prison by a military court for a crime I didn't commit. Happily I was able to promptly escape from a maximum security stockade and made my way to the Los Angeles underground, where to this very day I survive as a mercenary.

Europe:

1. no vanity tags issued by the state.
2. no state mandated overly technically complex plates. just a standard that any company can build to.
3. no pro abortion, anti-abortion, MADD, i gave to the policeman's ball semi-state endorsed vanity tags.

and, resultingly, none of the US's bullshiat.

When I was in college I drove a car with Missouri plates (MO). I went to school in Tennessee (TN) and of course my plates were registered with the school using the correct abbreviation, MO. I received parking tickets from the campus meter maids all the time written up for MI plates, MS plates, etc. It didn't take me long to figure out those tickets would never be charged to my account.

I was going to kill my wife for farking around, but chickened out at the last minute. Of course, just my luck, some other guy does it and I get convicted with back to back life sentences. Thankfully I was able to tunnel out and escape. Made a pretty penny from the warden's scams over the years too. Now I'm living it up in Zihuatanejo.

Only thing I got out of this story is the guy is catching Hell because of a poorly written computer system with shiatty input validation. Maybe they're trying to use the fines they milk out of him for an upgrade.

Plus no one will ever steal them because they are vanity and bc they're are the obvious result of a 17 year girl with DMV paperwork.

i know this lady who was convicted of killing her husband and went to jail for it, but it turns out her husband was actually still alive. after she got out on parole, she tracked him down. turns out the whole thing was a life insurance scam. and since they couldn't prosecute her for murdering him again, she killed him for real.

It sounds like the system is more broken than I thought. I don't see how someone's plate would pop up in the description of the fine. Is you put NO TAGS down as the violation you should still need to enter what plate it went to. Same for the person with NV in their tag. Just because you happen to have a couple of letters that are used in their fine codes doesn't mean you should get the ticket.

Somebody probably thought it'd be quicker if the computer just moved all the info into the place it thought it should be.

That's nothing. I was a golf pro or something until somebody murdered my wife and the dude she was having an affair with. In light of the affair, they thought I did it and I ended up in prison. Somebody there did time with the real killer and tried to help me, but he got killed for his trouble, so I did the only thing I could and chipped my way out with a rock hammer.

It's more a case that you can request a specific plate number. It must conform to the standard layout and already be issued. You also cannot buy a plate that is issued in a year later than your car. So you're pretty limited on what you can have.

Or, don't use data in a field to indicate that there is no data for that field. They could just put a little checkbox on the ticket form indicating why they don't have a license number to write in.

I used to be a cop and this one time I was after this maniac who hijacked a municipal bus with 30 passengers on it. The hostages were already dead by the time I got to his hideout ( I did a thermal check and only 8 signatures were there; all his men) yet I was blamed for killing the bus passengers and was given a 70-year cryoprison sentence. The maniac was given an eternity sentence, yet somehow escaped during a parole hearing.

the funny part is, after 36-years, I'm unfrozen to help the police capture the same guy who I brought in decades earlier.
