Lars and Cassie have been helping me plan my next project - a table runner. They've been playing with the fabric strips out of the kit. Didn't get pics, though... I'm sure I'll get pics once I really start working on it. I love having quilter kittehs!

Thanks to QJ for captioning Lars!

djtodd: This is Gandalf. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday.

I got him from the humane society in September 1994, he reached through the cage and played with my (then) long hair. I didn't choose him, he chose me.

[www.industrial-video.com image 432x288]

He lived through 17 and a half years of sometimes being fed a bowl of treats because daddy forgot to buy food. He was a great big brother to his best feline pal, Pixel.

[www.industrial-video.com image 432x288]

He lasted 4 months after being diagnosed with Lymphoma. He was 4 months from his 18th birthday. It hurt me so bad to tell him it was OK to let go, and it was time to chase butterflys on the other side. It hurt me, but he feels no pain anymore.

Goodbye old friend. You truly were the best friend I ever had, and the best thing that happened to me. I'll see you again soon enough.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Other than losing immediate family members, nothing hits harder than losing a long time beloved pet. Some people never understand that.(actually I think sometimes people love pets more than "official" family members because pets love you unconditionally and people can get petty, judgemental and unforgiving)

I almost named my Russian Blue, McLovin, Gandalf at first, but he was SO demonstrably affectionate that I opted for McLovin (plus he is an Hawiian organ donor- for those of you who have seen Superbad).

Moonmac: Hello all. This is my first time posting here. I'm normally a lurker (a long time lurker, for the past 4-5 years. I never had the courage to make an account or post. Yes, I'm shy). I decided today I was going to take the plunge. I also am a "crazy cat lady", I guess, since I have 4 of them. As soon as I decide on either using Flickr or Tinypic, I'll post pictures of them.

yobbery: Good to hear that Biscuit is doing better & is going to be okay. He is a handsome fellow. =)

Sickapie: Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow!!! Get better soon!

John Buck 41: I am so sorry for your loss. My grandmother (the last of my grandparents still living at that time) passed away this past August. Lots of peace and healing to you & your family.

djtodd: I am so sorry for your loss. When I was younger, we had a stray that also "chose us" for a home. His name was Pepper, and that special guy lived to be 22, surviving all sorts of stuff, including being hit by a car. Peace and healing to you.

whooopappaya: I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sorry for that generic response, but something like that does leave me at a loss for words. Its very very sad and confusing. Lots of peace and healing to you and your family.

I hope everyone is having a good day, and we'll see if I can keep mustering up enough courage to keep posting -- hehe...=)

Always room for one more!!!! /hugs =]

yobbery: He's home....and stoned out of his mind.
He already ate 6 treats...no interest in yogurt or pudding. Do y'all think dry food would be ok this early in the game since that's all he seems to want to eat? I'm thinking hold out a bit and see if he'll eat something gooshy.
I put on some Pink Floyd and he's currently passed out on the couch.

I'm so happy that Biscuit is safely home. He is such a gorgeous cat (and so amazingly photogenic). I always love seeing his pics. I'm jealous- my McLovin squeezes his eyes shut as soon as he sees my camera coming his way (He hates the flash.)

There is something goofily beatific about Biscuit =]

Sorry to read that maynerdkitty's Castle is lame, has been since acquired.
Can cracks in hooves heal, one'd hope? CU l8r.

maynerdkitty: Well, my eyes did not deceive me this time, Castle IS lame, I hate coming home late and having to feed in the dark. After I gave them their grain I went back out with flashlight and lantern. I got the hoof pick and picked out all four feet, there is no sign of thrush, no nails that I could see. He has cracks in both front feet but he's had them since I got him. They are growing out slowly and almost gone. I checked for heat and swelling in all his legs and looked for punctures or wounds. All I can tell is that it is probably in his near fore. There is nothing I can do until it is light out. He ate well and begged for more bread cubes so I don't think he suffers too much right now. The farrier is scheduled for Thursday. I am not going to sleep well tonight.
Oh and there is a bird nest in the top of the grooming tote! I thought I heard a bird flutter out this morning but OMG how fast do they build those things? Can I move it to a more convenient location? Maybe I can get my most used brushes and put them in another tote for a while.

/Castle in the rain yesterday
//I thought he may have thrush but this waster was all gone in a few hours, his paddock is usually dry
///this angle makes him look really big

I hope he's feeling better.

Looks like I get to be one of the cool kids for a month thanks to my TF angel, domari. Thank you very much! I really needed that this morning. :)

tidtmc and whooopappaya, I offer my sincerest condolences. I can't imagine the pain of losing someone to suicide but I know how difficult it is when loved ones are taken away suddenly from you. You are both in my thoughts.

/Dad died 7 years ago today of heart attack. Birth dad died 27 years ago next Monday. I really hate this week.

So....We didn't want to just let Biscuit loose in the house with just his cone until we were sure that he was healed enough to have free reign, pooping, and that the others weren't going to try to eat him. I slept in the barricaded man cave with him on Saturday and the wife slept in there last night since I had to come to Mordor today.

Woke up this morning to my Alice alarm clock letting me know it was time to wake up and feed her, get some coffee and get ready for work (in that order of course...and she has NO snooze button)

I stumble into the kitchen, glance in the living room and there's a coned Biscuit lounging on the couch??? The barricade I had put up showed no disturbance so we still have absolutely no idea how he got out?

Fortunately, everyone else was cool with him except Mia. She growled a little but didn't go after him. I think the cone has her confused.
