Subby, what Mitt Romney meant was that, in these times of economic hardship, we are all Detroit. Just like we are all New York, and all Michigan. Stop trying to separate and divide us. We are Americans, and that's all that matters.

2012-02-16 04:24:47 PM
New York, Michigan.. whatever, a guy with 30 houses might not know what state he is in from day to day cut him a break..

Mitt Romney seems to have a lot of money. Shouldn't he hire professionals to make his ads instead of doing it himself?

Aren't his friends the ones who are making the ads? Oh, that's right, they're the ones paying for them. They should throw down a few more million and hire proofreaders and fact checkers.

He's just trying sooooo hard. You can do it, Mitt!

I remember going to the Detroit auto show with my dad*

*Not intended to be a factual statement

It's really cute how hard he's trying to show how down-to-earth he is.

I picture an ad where he's talking about playing stickball with his friends out in the street in front of his father's mansions.

That particular part of the Romney quantum waveform was in NY - the rest of him was in Detroit.

Even the Canadians. Especially the Canadians. Still North America. Still Americans. It was as true back then as it is today. You can look it up on a map.

More than that, it's on a helipad. So they flew on their family chopper to see the goings on in the city.

No big deal. All those northern elitist Un-American states all blend together.

I remember the 1965 Detroit Auto Show very clearly. I particularly liked the Unisphere.

Ignoring the fact that he's got the location wrong, check this out:

I love how he's trying to claim he's one of us by using a picture that was shot...

From a farking HELIPAD.

/miracle acrylic dome makes it possible

Cut the guy a break.

When your dad flies you around from helipad to helipad it's easy to get confused which city you are in.

Anybody could make a mistake like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, the best political ad professionals money can buy.

Mitt Romney really IS running Hillary Clinton's campaign.

I'd start to feel sorry for him if he wasn't a Republican.

There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me,
Get him up against the wall.
[choird: 'Gainst the wall!]
That one looks Jewish!
And that one's a coon!
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?
There's one smoking a joint!
And another with spots!
If I had my way,
I'd have all of you shot!

Yes, Mitt, we know, you wouldn't be where you are without your daddy. Too bad you AREN'T your daddy.

And we've seen this movie: "Vote for Me Because of My Daddy." It sucked.

Only the sequel. John Q. Adams was actually a decent President. Not stellar, but serviceable.

In Mitten's defence - he was in shock after being driven there in a dog crate on the roof the the family truckster.

Yes, we are all Americans. Including the Canadians that made the Chrysler he was driving.

/He could've avoided that faux pas by driving a Jeep...but that's not made in Michigan, either, even if Michigan did fight for Toledo once.

Sure, they posted the highest profits ever, if you ignore that they have drained the $50 billion dollar (that's $50,000,000,000) lush fund that the treasury set up for them backed with practically worthless stock in 2009.

Proofreaders? PROOFREADERS? What are you, some kind of ivory-tower elitist scientician, looking for your proof in everything? Us REAL Americans take it on faith! Just write your gut, and trust that what comes out will be filled to the brim with TRUTH, and then you won't NEED any fact checkers!

I'm hearing the stirring strains of Copeland in the background. That usually happens when that boy shows up in a thread, he's just so earnestly wrong. It brings tears to my eyes, truly it does.

IlGreven: even if Michigan did fight for Toledo once.

And to its great credit, it quickly realized its mistake. Reminds me of something the SCA used to do: have a giant war over Pittsburgh, with the loser having to take it.

I'm really starting to think that the entire GOP race is just an elaborate reality show. There's no way any of these clowns are actually trying to be elected President.

No, it was when the storm tangled up the wires to the horn on the pole at the bus depot.

A candidate, any candidate, needs to project their strengths and downplay their weaknesses. One of Romney's major weaknesses is that he isn't affable. For some reason his campaign keeps throwing that in people's faces.
