what_now: You know, at this point, GOP you have convinced SEVERAL generations of women to NEVER vote for you.

My MOTHER- the live long Catholic who no longer possesses a uterus, and would be THRILLED if I started using mine, is pissed about this shiat.

They can't actually be trying to gain votes with this bullshiat can they? I think Rick Santorum actually believes all of his nonsense but maybe the people funding him are just doing it for the lulz.

"I was asked if I believed in it, and I said, 'No, I'm a Catholic, and I don't.' I don't want the government to fund it through Planned Parenthood, but that's different than wanting to ban it; the idea I'm coming after your birth control is absurd. I was making a statement about my moral beliefs, but I won't impose them on anyone else in this case. I don't think the government should be involved in that. People are free to make their own decisions.'' -- Rick Santorum

And here is him on video saying he thinks states should be able to ban birth control:
Video: Rick Santorum Supports States Banning Birth Control (new window)

Rick Santorum repeated his belief that states should have the right to outlaw contraception during an interview with ABC News yesterday (video below, begins at 2:00 minute mark).

Santorum said: "The state has a right to do that, I have never questioned that the state has a right to do that. It is not a constitutional right, the state has the right to pass whatever statues they have."

Well, the Supreme Court has ruled they can't (new window).

Which really doesn't amount to dick if this issue were brought before the current Supreme Court. They proved in Citizens United that legal precedent really doesn't concern them in the least when it comes to pushing a conservative agenda.

Want to? Well, no.
But if that man gets the nomination then I might be tempted to do it for the lulz.
If he can get that close to the Presidency than we're already farked and we might as well burn this mother down with all of us inside it.

You can get that same kind of bored angsty presentation by blowing out your brains and streaming it on the YouTubes, GF, just sayin'.

Well, since he would be dead probably not. Maybe self-castration with a dull butter knife. You would get the same number of people looking away in horror. Win!

That's actually better. You could turn it into a liberal vs conservative debate between the slow awkward self-mutilation.

Oh, no, insurance companies have to pay for preventative drugs! Whatever will we do?

We'll have no freedom to practice our religious beliefs. Just another piece of the Bill of Rights to be knocked off.

Please elaborate. What churches will be closed as a result of this mandate? Which services will be cancelled? When will the confiscation of your bibles begin?

I just wonder how long it'll be before one of these loony bishops demands that the flock boycott all businesses, since spending their money anywhere on anything could indirectly go toward someone somewhere getting birth control. Heck, the cashier at the local grocery store could be on it RIGHT NOW!! and by buying groceries there, the Catholics have allowed the grocery store to employ her, which has allowed her to buy (or be covered for) the pill.

2012-02-16 10:37:40 PM
The stupidest part of banning contraception is that it isn't even just used to prevent pregnancy. I know plenty of people who are abstinent for religious reasons and have still used birth control pills for things like period issues, acne, etc...in fact, I can't think of a single woman I know who hasn't used some form of contraception at some point for some reason.

So gg Rick. You're going to lose the women who are using it to fight acne or horrible cramps as well, which surely includes plenty of otherwise kooky right wingers.

Anyway...he has to be trolling us. Or Rick is delusional and his donors are just amusing themselves.

I like it. I will choose to have a moral objection to my hypothetical employees having children. I will not cover prenatal care or any costs incurred while birthing said children, and I will not cover your children's medical care. You could go find another job of course, but it might be hard to give up a paycheck when you're saddled with tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt.

I don't get the whole anti birth control stance by the fundies. If there is one thing the bible repeats, it's that it doesn't matter if you are old as hell or a virgin child, if god wants you to have a baby then you are going to have a baby. Hell I know LOTS of people who have gotten pregnant on different forms of birth control. One of them has 5 kids who were all concieved while she was on various(pill, shot, IUD) birth control methods. If you believe in god then you know some little birth control thing isn't going to change his plan, he might just have to pitch that baby at you a little harder.

/and for Chrissake can we stop acting like women who use contraceptives are sluts? Every married woman I know is on something to prevent more babies.
