I've never done anything like this so I hope I'm not breaking any Fark rules, but here goes.

Our local hockey team is running a cute pet photo contest and the winner gets $500 in pet care. My friend has been out of work for almost a year and could really use the help, as he has a dog and two cats and vet care hasn't been top priority in awhile, though fortunately they've been healthy and are in no way suffering.

Soliciting for outside votes like this is totally ok within the rules of the contest. In fact, the person currently in first place won last year by doing something similar to this and are about to take the contest twice in a row this way. You don't need to Like or Subscribe to a page, just Like the photo, if you feel so inclined. Thanks. :)

Done - had to re-read your post a couple time just to make sure it wasn't more complicated than I thought. I have absolutely zero problems with helping with preemptive vet credits.
