It's not just gay kids who gets sent to these kinds of camps, and it's not just Christian parents who do, though I'm glad someone is focusing on that aspect.

Seriously, look up WWASPS. I had an ex who'd gone to Casa By The Sea. He tried to escape once, so they put him in a shower room and hosed him down while he faced the wall once every hour for three days, allowing him to break for six hours of sleep each night, but not to change clothes. He didn't have issues from the "camp", he had a subscription.

There was a major piece on Tranquility Bay a little back, too, and it was appalling.

A guy who lives down the road from me is a contractor, he has some contractor buddies at his house on occasion after a days work drinking beer and smoking pot. Once of my other neighbors called the cops on him saying they were smoking pot, the state police, we have no local cops in our little town, staked out his house for over a week off and on trying to catch them smoking a joint. So yeah, that is what they are doing.

Start your own offshore boarding school. Market it as jesus saves from the gay via jesus powers or whatever these parents think it's going to do. Get their tuition and their kid.

Take the kid and, along with a good education and decent personal living situation, teach him how to come to terms with the fact that he has a personal characteristic which his family hates. Keep this part of it secret or else you'll spoil the marketing and won't be able to save any more children.

I mentioned upthread somewhere, I'm seriously worried that a family I used to babysit for may decide to send their teenage son off to a camp like this. Kid has OCD that they never got treated properly because they distrust psychiatrists and doctors and because they half think it's a spiritual problem, and they got it in their head that his OCD related freakouts were him being disobedient and sinful. Poor kid can't do anything right in their eyes, they think he's the most horrible, unrepentant, unregenerate kid on the planet, and they won't listen to anybody who tries to hint otherwise. My parents have tried to tell them that they're seriously screwing up their kid, the parents of one of his friends have tried to figure out a way to tell them that without them deciding to stop letting the kid come over (they're already convinced this family is far too liberal and permissive, which is ridiculous because they're conservative homeschoolers, they just don't try to micromanage their son), and it's just a mess and this poor kid is stuck with ultra-fundamentalist parents who think he's the worst person in the world.
