Okay. I was kind of on the fence about this one, but after that trailer I'm 80 percent sure I'll go see this in the theater.

Best In The World: "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't." - Mark Twain

U kno why Spider-Man iz fake life? Not cuz he climbs buildings, or cuz he's a web slangin spider, or cuz he has a 6th sense, extracetera. It'z fake life cuz that bro doesn't act like any1 eva would. He's got mad spider swag yet he keeps it a secret? If this homie was so smart he'd monetize the hell out of his new found ABIL-ITY. But as he'd portrayed he's like this broke ass freelance newspaper dork who creeps on his hottie neighbor. Actually that part is fairly legit 2 reality. What'z wack as that this dude actz like he has no peacock game yet he picks up biatches without using his outfit. Str8 up fiction. I don't think that would happened. IRL that bro would have spent all last night submittin angry Vday headlines 2 TFD & yall kno that.

Do u kno what they call that? Suspension of disbelieves. Or like Mark Twain spits "If u tell me a lie it betta @ least make sum sense cuz if it doesn't & it'z 2 f'd up I'll believe it."

Well since Dennis Leary is in the headline that means sooner or later Hicks fans will show up. Now I like Hicks. I wish the man was with us today. And yeah a stupid amount of Leary's No Cure for Cancer was thought up by Bill and Dennis should not have used it.

But the man did Rescue Me and while that does not absolve him from what he did, it does make him a great actor and a good person in the now.

/fark this movie for looking pretty okay from the trailers
//I can still haz Bruce Campbell cameo?

Yea... It does look pretty good, though the story seems to be a vast departure from the normal Spiderman continuity.

Hey also knew how to market and deliver material better. Don't get me wrong, he had his moments but long portions of his skit were his pontificating which doesn't exactly sell as well in the humor market.

let me light this fire...

Denis Leary is a thief who stole his act from a dead man and his heirs, profited from his theft, didn't credit Hicks or share his stolen wealth with his heirs, and now people should just let it go? No, Fark him.

Whenever I hear one of the Ford commercials narrated by Dennis Leary, I grow another testicle.

/Up to about 80 so far.

Copyright rights will be lost.

A reboot will rise.

Intellectual property will survive.

Spider-Man Rises. 2012.

Because if Sony doesn't make another movie, the rights revert to Marvel.

Get Caught in the Web. 07.19.12.

Belgian trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man shows some different scenes, suggests Belgians can't get enough Denis Leary BILL HICKS

ftfy

Denis Leary is a one note turd and sadly for everyone that one note belonged to Bill Hicks.
When Denis Leary fesses up to that, I'll like him.

Be strong....Be wrong

the really sad part is that most of the kids today probably wouldn't get Hicks...But Leary is just enough of a watered down clownshow that he translates...

sad that.

Wait.. Why does Rescue Me make Leary a good person?

On topic: this looks pretty okay. No crying, no dancing, and I like the wisecracks.

2012-02-15 06:21:58 PM
Folks from Worcester Ma. don't claim him.

2012-02-15 06:26:59 PM
I liked Rescue Me. For a while, anyway. It just became so Goddamned dark. I mean it was always dark, that was its theme. I don't need shows to be all happy but it was just so over the top. Denis' wife is raped and has a miscarriage and his son is hit by a car and his dad gets Alzheimer's and he sees dead people and steps in a bear trap and is tarred and feathered and attacked by a cougar....

Evil Kirk vs Bad Ash: that does not absolve him from what he did,

Also he stole from a dying man, not a dead man. Hicks didn't die until another two years after No Cure for Cancer came out.

BalugaJoe: The Ref is funny.

The Ref was a great film. One of my favorite Christmas movies.

"She's a farking biatch, Lloyd."

I don't give a shiat whether or not Leary stole the "dancing around with a cigarette" bit from Bill Hicks. Leary had his own material and Hicks was an insufferable prick. I mean come on, I agree with a lot of what Hicks said but he was a pretentious douche in his delivery. The funniest thing he did was losing the comedy award to Carrot Top the day after he died. That was some performance art right there.

ah, 20 years ago is a long time, you are correct. I will always hate on Leary, unless someone actually cures cancer, then I might forgive.

Hercule Poirot? Does that count?

As for the Hicks/Leary thing, did Hicks ever comment about the theft? They knew each other, moved in the same circles. I saw then interviewed together while they were at Montreux & they seemed like friends, so what happened there?

"I have a scoop for you. I stole his act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did." -- Bill Hicks

Funnier quote that I just learned off today: when asked why he quit smoking, Hicks replied "I just wanted to see if Denis would, too."

This would be news if Wizard (wizardworld.com, since the print version is kaput) hadn't already gotten a hold of the entire five-part series thanks to a very VERY dumb indicia/licensing agent:

Amazing Spider-Man: "The Lizard's Remorse" (Pretty much everything from 1976-1978)

Spectacular Spider-Man: "Venom"/"Venom Returns" (ASM #300, 315-316)

Web of Spider-Man: "Carnage Rules!" (ASM# 361-363)

Peter Parker: Spider-Man: "New Ways to Die (Spidey)/"New Ways to Live" (Separation of Eddie from Venom, creation of the Scorpion as a Venom-possessed Mac Gargan, creation of Anti-Venom.)

The Spider-Man: Norman Osbourne has been pulling the strings the whole time, revealed as Green Goblin, created Scorpion, final battle between Spidey/Goblin and Anti-Venom/Scorpion.

/Don't care if you don't believe me: I was 100% correct on the Spider-Man 3 storyline a full year before it came out. Believe me, it piassed me off way more than most people.

INCOMING RANT:
(How do you make a monster completely unsympathetic to the viewer? Tear away the whole reason for his ethos/pathos and make him a faceless monster. Worst part is said monster (Venom) is the reason the damn thing made $1.1 Billion, because no one farking cares about any of the Spidey villains aside from Lizard, Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Venom. ESPECIALLY someone who doesn't read the comics. Making a $300m movie about the FARKING VULTURE is a recipe for box-office poison, if not straight-to-DVD-Hell. While we're on the topic, same reason X3 was TERRIBLE, Dark Phoenix Saga without Cyclops? WHAT ARE YOU, RETARDED?! You think people went to see the most anti-climactic ending to a comic movie ever? Why? So you can set up Wolverine: Weapon X (FEATURING: DUDEPEEL!... and no Sabretooth... AND THERE GOES YOUR AUDIENCE, RIGHT OUT THE FARKING DOOR!)

Okay, okay... I'm don... AND WHAT ABOUT NO LOVE FOR PUNISHER: WAR ZONE?! THAT'S ONE OF THE BEST GODDAMN COMIC MOVIES EVER! JESUS, PEOPLE!

/Still hope... we've still got Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth (R-rated Ryan Reynolds "Musical Bloodbath" idea, please. Might be possible to save the whole Marvel movie-verse, yet. HEY! We got Watchmen, didn't we? Anything's possible.

//Of course The Avengers is going to be totally awesome. Kenneth Branagh and Stan Lee himself as "silent" directors? FARK YEAH.

///Also; haven't posted in a while due to an intentional 3-month "Internet Deprivation" experiment. I'm good now, but, man, has Fark gotten... kinda lame. The Whitney Houston thread was downright respectable, and I expect more after 7 years of lurking and 6 of posting, and actually BEING THERE for the Anna Nicole Smith thread.

////"Mike Tyson's Daughter to spend eternity with that piece of Evander Holyfield's Ear" is still the greatest headline ever.
