Between my history of insomnia and my family history of senility and dementia, my later years are probably going to be pretty awful. Maybe I'll shot myself before that time come.

This seems familiar.

I went to sleep at a perfectly crumulent hour, but I have no idea when I got up and stripped naked and closed my bedroom door.

It's Lunesta + ear plugs for me. I'll take the Lunesta "someone-left-a-rusty-penny-in-my-mouth" aftertaste over the Ambien walrus adventures any day.

Same here. I'll probably just jump out of an airplane and 'forget' to pull the cord on the 'chute.

Even funner that a few folks are falling over themselves to explain the gag. As if we're a bunch of morans.

Great, as if only getting about 1/3 the amount of REM sleep I'm supposed to was bad enough. According to the sleep studies I've had, I do a small amount of REM sleep right after I go to sleep, then I skip it entirely. Which usually causes me to wake up after 3 to 5 hours. Then I can't go back to sleep.

Been like this for 20 years now, irritating.

I've done that myself for most of my life. I've heard it's because of low-grade depression, and it is a lot worse when I'm bummed out. Then I lie awake half the night thinking of even worse stuff.....

I don't know about REM sleep, but if I do manage to get back to sleep, I'm almost always dreaming right until I wake up, even if I sleep as long as I want to.

I was going to post something here, but now I can't remember what it was. Must be because i had trouble sleeping last night. I think they did a study on that and how it ... wait, I was going to post something here, but now I can't remember what it was.

Outside of alcohol induced dreams, I haven't had any that I remember since I was 11.

Take a nicotine lozenge before you go to bed.

You'll then have incredibly in-depth lucid dreams, and you'll broadly remember them. You'll be shocked how you could ever forget them.
