I needed that chuckle, thanks Subby.

I think the challenge there is we really are going to do a reboot there, and what that's going to be we don't even know yet.

it's just be one giant 2 hour explosion.

THIS. Rebooting it already? Did Shia LeBouf's head get too big for your wallet, Bay?

The fact that this is a reboot is just farking ridiculous. I thought re-booting Spiderman was crazy but at least that has a different director from the previous series.

/I bet you he's trying to find a way to do it without robots.

There will be lots of explosions. Big ones, small ones,

Will it have Unicron?

Maybe a retrospective on the many loves of Optimus Prime.

transformers 3 made $1.2 billion. of course there's going to be a sequel and of course it's going to be terrible. and of course it's going to make another $1.2 billion.

I hear he's working on getting every shot down to under one second.

Cool!! I love Transformers movies.

I am serious.

I wasn't even aware that there was a 2nd or 3rd Transformers movie.

Oh boy. More fast camera switches and pans, more explosions, less thought, more indistinguishable shapes and metal monsters.

Christ, if I wasn't ADHD before, being dragged to this by family will ensure that I am.

2012-02-14 04:07:29 PM
Man I hate being the bearer of bad news, but we will never see movie. The world is ending in December. Sorry Michael Bay, I soooo wanted to toss my money at your Explosiboner Flick.

2012-02-14 04:09:49 PM
Maybe he should just do away with the actual human beings. Just do a bunch of robots battling on a dead earth. It would probably be deeper than anything he's done in years.

Can you please let some nerds review your script so that perhaps they ca...

Esplosions... a lots of them.

I want the Junkions to be in this one.

Even if it's as cracked out as the previous ones (2 and 3 really needed to be helped by actual TF writers), all I ask is Unicron, and better robot modes. The exposed gears and inner workings always left me with the idea that the 'Cons could have been defeated with handfuls of scrap metal thrown at 'em. Not to mention it did make them fairly indistinguishable from each other.

Forget the joke that as grown-ups, we might find G1 Megatron turning into a gun ridiculous. Megs is so badass, that when even his gun mode is held by Starscream, he is still the most dangerous Decepticon on the battlefield.

They probably thought that about the 80's/90's batman franchise. Eventually they went full retard and knew they couldn't carry it as it was any longer. I believe Batman & Robin actually made money, but they knew the fan base wasn't going to show up for any more batnipples. If they screw up badly enough, eventually the same thing will happen.

I enjoyed the third film, mostly for Leonard Nimoy's banter.

I'm baffled by people like you. My step-father is the same way. LOVES Transformers 2.

I'd rather watch No Country for Old Men or The Dark Knight. At least those movies have action and suspense that is well done and intelligent.

/Saw the first one and thought it was mediocre. Saw the second and would've walked out, except I was there with other people. Skipped Part 3.

For the people who say, "Hey just shut your brain off and watch the popcorn movie about fighting robots", that's the point. They managed to make a movie about fighting robots boring. Michael Bay is mostly to blame but writer Bob Orci doesn't help.

I loved the third movie because it was pure spectacle, and that's what I paid to see. It was amazing on IMAX 3D. That last hour in Chicago was worth the price of admission.

The best part about 3D is that is forced Bay to behave and hold the camera still. Suddenly we could all see what was happening onscreen, and wouldn't you know that made the movie better. The 3D was really well done and actually added to the movie.

Was the story great? No, but it was servicable and not nearly as awful as the first two movies. Again, that wasn't the point. I wanted to see robots fighting and laying waste to a city, in 3D, and that's what I got.

It's too bad you didn't watch the 3rd movie in 3D. You really missed out.

My other favorite 3D experience last year was Hugo, and that made a fun bookend to my 3D experience. Transformers was the most advanced filmmaking (when it came to special effects at least) we had seen, and Hugo was about celebrating the very beginning of the craft.

Words, out of my mouth...or fingers, whatever.

It's just become chic to hate Michael Bay, but as pointed out he makes profitable films still and as above the 3rd film was a visual feast, especially in IMAX 3D. Certainly he's not going to blow your mind a'la Nolan, Jackson, Scott, etc. But the hordes of people who go off on a rant about why everyone is stupid for just enjoying the spectacle is ridiculous. Too many people with a severe "stop liking what I don't like" complex.

Caught about 10 minutes of Transformers 3 on cable: A din of noise and swirling metal that managed to be both boring and exhausting. Just painful.

I think they might all have simultaneous aneurisms when they hear about a Transformers 4 movie, though. The RiffTrax for Transformers 3 was great, because their utter hatred of the movie came through in the commentary.

Actually, I heard about Michael Bay signing on for the 4th one from the Rifftrax page on Facebook this morning before I heard about it on Fark. I have yet to see the 3rd one, though.

And it's double true that they made all of those horrible movies watchable. I managed to sit through Twilight, laughing my ass off. But even Mike and the bots couldn't make The Last Airbender watchable for me. I tried really hard to sit through it, as I'm a huge Rifftrax fan, but I just couldn't make it. First time a Rifftrax failed me.
