That was an even worse-kept secret than Quinto. Heck, I'm pretty sure the White Collar episode last season where Neil spent half the episode hiding in a very large and fashionable closet was lampshading it.

So. Not. Fair.

/and yeah, good for him for feeling secure enough to be able to come out
//yeah, I know I was never gonna date the guy, but jeez
///at least the married hotties might get divorced

Two of the kids were named Kit and Walker? Man, somebody in that household was a big fan of The Phantom.

Was that boy ever in the closet?
The guy has a gaggle of kids with his partner & everything. Not exactly stealthy.

He steadfastly refused to answer questions when asked, with the whole, "my private life is private," response. Though, he also did an interview right after White Collar got picked up that strongly hinted that the reason he wasn't answering relationship questions was because USA Network didn't want him to. And when he started wearing a wedding band, his publicist played the, "I do not comment on my clients' personal lives" cards when asked about it.

Dear Matt,

Like all of womankind, I'm very disappointed. However, all is forgiven if a video "accidentally" leaks of you and John Barrowman making out in a field of yellow and pink flowers.

Love,

This just in:

"My private life is private" = TEH HOMOGAY

I mean, has anyone ever played this card who didn't eventually come out of the closet? Clay Aiken played it, Quinto played it, George Michael tried to play it once back in the 80's before the US really knew who he was, and Sean Hayes tried it out for a while, although I understand he really didn't want to.

"My private life is private" is rapidly becoming as cliche as "I'm suffering from exhaustion". Everyone knows it's a code.

Also, didn't this guy come out 8 years ago? Does he have a new movie coming out or something? I thought this was old news.

There are apparently still people who don't know that "my private life is private" == TEH HOMOGHEY, judging from all of the White Collar fans who are posting their shock at the news on various entertainment sites across the intarwebs.

He does have that Channing Tatum stripper movie coming up that looks to be a male version of Showgirls. Though really, even without a movie coming out soon, dude has three kids, three kids that he gets photographed with and who are rapidly getting to the age where they're going to want to now why their one daddy won't publicly acknowledge their other daddy's existence.

/Wonder if USA Network's going to update their 'Character's Wanted', "I'm from a red state, played high school football, and am a Christian," spot now

Really? I mean interviews aside, I figured he was. It doesn't matter at all, but woo.

I wonder what a gay guy thinks about playing a ladies man. I figure that generally qualifies as funny.

You should have seen last week's episode, where, throughout the episode, you had a running conversation between the gay actor playing straight and the straight actor playing gay about NY legalizing same sex marriage, with our straight ladies man played by the gay actor trying to understand why our partnered gay FBI agent played by a straight actor would be reluctant to get married knowing the way it keeps getting yanked back and forth by voters and the courts.

It was almost as meta as the episode where Bomer spent half the episode hiding in a closet.

I wonder if he would have came out when Chuck was on the air, if Adam Baldwin would've refused to work with him?

I'm glad he didn't get the part of Chuck. He's too good looking to be believable as a nerd; spy, not so much.

I was pretty sure he was gay within the first season of the show. I could have sworn that I had seen or read some interview where he said something to effect of "I am as gay as the day is long" kind of statement at some point but I suppose that was not the case.

Well, DUH!

Plus, unless you are willing to actually answer definitively one way or the other, "Are you gay?" is a loaded question for celebrity news hounds. A non-denial is just as good as coming out of the closet. I think people ask the question just to be dicks, because you don't ask it of someone you think is straight. I doubt Tom Hanks ever had to answer something like that even before he got famous.

Bomer: Thank you for coming out. It bothers me when the obvious ones don't do it because it looks clearly labeled as oh we can't talk about that because it's wrong. So thank you. Also, no forgiveness needed but if you want to make out with John Barrowman and release the tape, I, for one, will give you a car. I will steal this car, but I will give it to you. Hell, you can make out with Barrowman and his husband and your husband can film it and not be involved. I think everyone would win with that one.

I'm afraid I'm not aware of the existence of any photographs or videos that meet your criteria, the best I can do at the moment is Tim DeKay on a horse; "Burke's Seven" (new window). Although, to be honest, I've never actually looked for for images of Barrowman and Bomer making out, my tastes run more towards Tiffani Thiessen, Hillary Burton, and Marsha Thomason.

Also, add me to the list of people who were under the impression that Mr. Bomer had been out for quite some time.

Nah, I was around for that. It was mostly "How do you play a woman?" even though they (Hanks and Scolari) were the worst attempt at playing women ever. No one asked things like "are you gay?". Dustin Hoffman didn't get a whole lot of grief for "Tootsie" either. The media literally left the whole idea of gay in the closet.

Of course, there wasn't "teh intarwebs" back then, either. So if Hoffman or Hanks had kids and a same-sex partner for ten years the odds of you seeing it in anything, including the National Enquirer, were extremely rare. Back then you had to be Liberace gay for people to report on teh gay.
