I prefer a foil for a Nevis attack.
But if you use a machete, ok.
/obscure?

Never say Nevis again

I wonder if the robber will be....brought to justice?

/Cue sunglasses, music, etc.

A liberal is a conservative who hasn't been robbed at machete point yet.

Well this says this and that about US crime rates and we need to go to this other thing now because of this!

While this seems like a regular robbery and nothing to do with his job, I am honestly amazed that so few assassination attempts are made against Supreme Court Justices.

Also, I wish I had a vacation house in the Caribbean.

/pretty much all I have to say about this article

Chameleon: I am honestly amazed that so few assassination attempts are made against Supreme Court Justices.

I am also surprised by this. Maybe the people that are crazy enough to try something like that don't understand the possible huge implications of "offing" only one Justice.

/Depends on which justice, who is President, what's coming up on the docket...etc.

Too bad he didn't have some sort of tool available to help defend himself

Actually I am oblivious to gun laws in Nevis, let alone ones that pertain to foreigners.

What kind of life does Breyer have? The last time he was in the news, he was beaten and mugged while jogging in Central Park. Does he just bait insanity into farking with him? Is he a mix of Dr. Gonzo and Raoul Duke that just happens to be on the Supreme Court??

Like a bodyguard?

I'd have more than a few of those, if I lived in a mansion in the Caribbean.

I wonder if he also holds a passport. One of the few caribbean countries where you can essentially buy citizenship (usually through property or home ownership).

I wonder if he would ban machetes if he could do such a thing...

On the other hand we won't have to read about his anus in an autopsy report.

Those groups aren't even remotely related to this, and you're that kind of thing for saying so. Further, the blame really belongs with that group over there!

From TFA: The last time a justice was the victim of a crime was in 2004, when a group of young men assaulted Justice David Souter as he jogged on the street in Washington

Anyone else calling "bullshiat" on his claim that the ". . .property he owns on Nevis is worth between $100,000 and $250,000."

I just find it hard to believe that a house in that area would be so cheap.

I could see a conservative Jared Loughtner type doing it to a liberal justice during a republican president.

I think you underestimate how many people are ignorant of the supreme court and its effects on this country and its citizenry.

This. Plus the people intelligent enough to understand what SCOTUS does do not commit assassinations.

$100,000 to $200,000 for his home in Nevis? Maybe the Justice should spend some coin for a home more befitting his status.

(And give me his leftovers.)

I heard it would taste like chicken

Why was I surprised to learn that this guy likely has the lifestyle of most of our Federal politicians? For some reason, I've pictured them as more common. My disdain is now complete.

St. Kitts & Nevis has strict gun control laws, and possession of an unregistered firearm can land you 5 to 10 years in prison.

Also, it is illegal to wear camouflage on St. Kitts & Nevis.

it's a damn shame machete attacks on supreme court justice types are not taking place regularly here in the lower 48. way overdue.

Pretty awesome place. There is a beach on St. KItts right across from Nevis where there is nothing but a little bar with picnic tables where you can buy drinks for all of the green monkeys that are there.

When I was there a little boy (probably about 7-8yrs old) fed a banana to one of those monkeys, peel and all. He figured that since he just gave the monkey a banana that they were now friends and he proceeded to pet the monkey... well, he attempted to pet the monkey. Just as his hand was about to touch the monkeys head the monkey delivered about a dozen punches (left-right-left, etc) in the span of about a nanosecond.

Belittlement-term please, you're being this for saying that. The plight of this random group by far and away depicts this as that versus that or that. This is plainly what that is talking about even though the initial topic was neither this nor that. How do you get off claiming this about this, that or the other thing?

Marginalizing conclusion.

There's only 12,000 people on Nevis.

How hard can it be to find this guy.

Also, it is against the law to curse there.

Just in the news today: Another move to strike down California's Prop. 209*. Opponents hope to have it reviewed by the nation's supreme court.

Apparently there still is not equal admittance of blacks and Latinos in the our top universities. (No matter what we do we can't get rid of that racist admissions officer at Cal!)

Breyer's machete attack might swing his vote Prop. 209 does go before the Supreme Court.

*Proposition 209 (also known as the California Civil Rights Initiative) is a California ballot proposition which, upon approval in November 1996, amended the state constitution to prohibit state government institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity, specifically in the areas of public employment, public contracting or public education.

He's like the rape "victim" that invites the act by dressing like a slut. He should stop with the high-risk behaviors.

Damn. Justice Breyer is one of the great ones - y'all ever read his book, Active Liberty? It's really about the book's title - from a constitutionally supported point of view, with a consistently well reasoned argument.

Cheers to him! It seems that his previous experiences as a successful lawyer have resulted in more than that he can has teh nize houze, y'know? ;)

/Also ninja, "I hear"...
