As a nurse, i gotta say thats jsut crazy, we have an army of housekeepers cleaning and disinfecting every farking room morning and afternoon. Those people just have no not wash things at all, with the infection control protocols set up in what i thought were most hospital settings

~ FTFA: "have no other clothes or shoes" .. "been tehre 6 weeks, been having bedbug problems the last 2 weeks?"
Well, clearly it sounds like some homeless family brought in the bedbugs while scamming free healthcare out of area.

At least you're in the hospital so you can be treated, right?

WTF do they expect, sterile conditions? hospitals have a shiat load of turn-over and some people are less clean than others. this facility is probably stretched thin with worker bees doing the jobs of many and paid crap for it. profits come at a cost, dammit.
try Amphyl spray, farkers. you'll kill most everything alive in your place and there won't be much trace left behind for the forensics people if that's your thing.

Sleep.
Isn't that a tick?
BTW, I've seen around the internets that there are ways to get rid of bedbugs, when there's not a horrible infestation, that doesn't involve lots of poison.

Want to get rid of bedbugs and not kill your family and your pets,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatomaceous_earth
I've used it, it works amazingly well. And its safe enough to eat if you get food grade (which is what you want) also its pretty damn cheap. Chances are you already eat it because its used to keep wheat safe from insects, I heard they put some in corn meal and things like pancake mix.
/ Bed bugs suck so bad! Last time I buy used furniture... Ok maybe not the last time but I will be sure to check it thoroughly though.

Fire works too. And if I ever had an infestation, it would be used.

Heat is quite effective, they actually die in relatively low heat, I used a steam iron to kill the ones that tried to hide in the cracks between wooden furniture but fire doesn't really include the whole idea of not killing yourself, pets and family though.

Too bad DDT is banned. It made bedbugs almost unheard of.

Goddamn bedbugs. I hate those little farkers. we've had them for a few months, but i just got some diatomacious earth, and it's been working when 3 treatments from exterminators didn't kill them all.

I'm a nurse, too...working in a hosptal.
The bedbugs come from the PATIENTS. We have an army of cleaning/disinfecting crew, but if they bring them in with them..then what?

Hospitals thrive on high turnover of patients. In a given day, a room can have 3 or 4 different patients in it.
Any of those that bring spare clothes, etc can easily infest the room with hundreds of bedbugs.
They don't COME from the hospital...the come from people who live in nasty, dirty homes that go to the hospital and bring the bugs with them.

Alright farkers,
since this is a bed bug thread,
I am currently fighting the little bastards, and while my landlord is treating the WHOLE farking building, my apartment seems to keep a few of these bastards alive.
Tell me what works, where I can get it. I have bed bug mattress covers on all of my mattresses and pillows.
/so ready to burn this place down -_-

I have no advice, as I've never had to deal with this problem (knock on wood) but I just want to say godspeed.

we had a minor infestation. we had the professionals come in and treat the place. it was crazy, though. we had to inspect and pack everything we own, sealing it all up. the Diatomaceous Earth had no discernible effect. only the exterminator's poison worked.
we caught it early, so they were only in a couple of places. it could have been worse. still, the whole ordeal from the first appearance of the bites to packing the house to the treatments and the all clear...it was about six weeks.
they loved my wife, she had a ton of bite marks/bumps all over. they left me alone (or perhaps i don't have any reaction to their bite).
anyway, if you suspect you have bed bugs, my advice is to have the pros inspect your home asap. bed bugs are tough little farkers and will hide anywhere in your house.
as for the article, yeah, when my wife went to the doctor about the bite marks, the doctor recognized them immediately as bed bug bites. apparently there was a crazy infestation of bed bugs at one of the local (chicago) hospitals within the last few years after a patient brought them in. they didn't catch it quick enough and the bastards spread like wildfire. the doctor spoke of tiring measures to fix the issue, closing entire sections of the hospital at a time to inspect/treat.

Follow the instructions, take out all linens and clothing in the home and wash at a laundromat in high heat wash and dry as they die in 140 degree heat. If they are in the bed too then you can get a spray from the same company as well, spray mattress and seal in a vinyl cover.
Clears up bedbugs fast.
