The confusion may be in that in South Carolina, prostitution is covered in the same law as general lewd behavior.

I just read the law. There's absolutely nothing in it that states that offering a beejay constitutes prostitution unless money is exchanged or if the solicitation for it in a house or other place where prostitution is conducted.

Only SECTION 16-15-90, paragraph 9 has any possible connection:

"Direct, take or transport, offer or agree to take or transport or aid or assist in transporting any person to any vehicle, conveyance, trailer, place, structure or building or to any other person with knowledge or having reasonable cause to believe that the purpose of such directing, taking or transporting is prostitution, lewdness or assignation;"

The only thing there that can be possible used is the word assignation, which in this context is an offer to meet for sex. So, if this is illegal in SC, it is also illegal to hit on a woman, since that, too, is assignation.

A half way good lawyer's going to get this old guy off (so to speak).
