Would love to see this on a house

came to add ass-billboard, see it's already covered.

moving along.

Could make for a good photoshop contest.

2012-02-13 12:57:46 PM
Make sure it has lots of flashy, colorful lights to attract attention. neighbors love that.

2012-02-13 12:59:39 PM
Good luck with that plan. I'm pretty sure that's illegal in 99% of cities in America.

More then a few around here that still say that, including one large building just as you drive into the old downtown. "BUCKEYE TOBACCO AND CANDY COMPANY" in 3-ft tall letters.

I tried to come with some witty observation about the corporate bastardization of the American dream, but words are just failing me here.

How the fark did he manage that without having to file for a variance? There's no way in hell that would have slipped by the neighbors.

I thought we were hitting Idiocracy a few years back when KFC was fixing pot holes then spray painting their logo over the patched road.

FTA: When they saw the house...neighbors were initially angry and confused. Some even considered calling the police.

Won't somebody please think of the children?!

2012-02-13 01:08:23 PM
How appropriate. A deaf couple has the loudest house on the block.

2012-02-13 01:11:39 PM
Times are tough. If it came down to it I would choose living in a house covered in advertisements over sleeping wrapped in a newspaper (which is mostly advertisements).

If one of my neighbors were to do this (and I don't think it would be allowed by the county), I'd have to consider burning their house down.

I thought about saying that, but realized Mrs. TheMighty would reach out from her job as an ASL interpreter to give me a biatch slap

That will be the follow up story.

Mendoza said he chose the Hostetlers because they are nice people and he wants to choose the most deserving cases rather than homes on the busiest streets.

So these are adverts for his marketing business and he says that he doesn't make the best decisions based upon sound marketing techniques. THAT'S just the kind of marketing business somebody should go with.

I live in a 3 story tall, flat roofed apartment building. It is a perfect white canvas when seen from google maps. Maybe I'll talk to the landlord and get paid to advertise his business

2012-02-13 01:20:49 PM
I wonder if my HOA will go for this or how much of a cut they will want.

2012-02-13 01:21:14 PM
This is why you need an HOA!!!

Come on, America, we can do better than ugly ass billboards!
Can't we have attractive ass-billboards instead?
There are lots of attractive asses out there to choose from.

Most cities prohibit any such activity*. I'm surprised this isn't the case here.

* Well, sometimes you can put up a small sign, like 12" if you run a home business; you need permits though.

2012-02-13 01:37:21 PM
downstairs: Good luck with that plan. I'm pretty sure that's illegal in 99% of cities in America.

...and where it isn't illegal new ordinances and/or HOA rules banning ads will be passed in 3,2,1....

My house is right on a major highway. I put out a sign about a zoning board meeting on the inappropriate project on the adjacent lot and had cops pounding on my door demanding that I remove it.

Since then I was told by a village trustee that they can't ban signs due to reasons of free speech.

I also noticed that my windows area billboard-sizes canvas facing traffic.

Fun to come.

If I were these neighbors, I'd be more upset if it weren't for the fact that there's a giant lighted roller coaster and tower-drop ride looming over the entire neighborhood. On this street, Knott's Berry Farm is a much larger problem in terms of visual blight than this house.

"You're ruining our beautiful view of... oh, never mind."

i like that. it is mutually beneficial. junk food & soda vending machines in schools, that is something to bark about.

I guess they painted those into the mid 90's. Must have been a decent deal for farmers. Hey free barn paint job right?

$2000/month. Where do I sign up?

You can put ads on whatever you want, but as far as I'm concerned, that shade of orange should be banned.

IrateShadow: How the fark did he manage that without having to file for a variance? There's no way in hell that would have slipped by the neighbors.

minimal city rules governing this...until the next session of city council.

FTA the couple in the house are both deaf which ususally means they are likely to be severly underemployed and the business owners chose them based on deserving the payments vs. being in a high traffic area. I like that aspect of this story.

your cunning snark might have missed the fact that ....Fark, Reddit, Bloggers, CNN, FOX, ...and so forth will add 1000's clicks/words/coverage to the story, drive people to the marketing firm's website, who will get 1000's of more applications, get shared on 100's of FaceBook pages, ta da we just got your investment massive amounts of national coverage and press.

Due to the popularity increase in labor to properly paint the billboard homes our service our rates increased by 10% this quarter.

I'd do it even though we don't have trouble paying the mortgage. It'd be nice to have that extra cash. Only problem is we're on a dead-end, private way with like 7 houses or so, so there's basically no traffic. They'd never go for it.

If I ever run into you remind me to burn you down.

/Giant billboards? Aside from not being giant, they aren't even considered billboards according to the colloquial vernacular!

That was the idea. Back in the day, you could get your barn painted black (Mail Pouch) red (Coke) or red white and blue (local politicans)
