Cokie Roberts on NPR this morning was saying that of course it's not going to pass, or any other budget this year, but it'll show what Obama's priorities are.

4 trillion in cuts over the next decade, but the spending still increases.... so how is it a 4 trillion cut? IT ISN'T.

And will the GOP bring everything to a halt to protect things like tax breaks for their ultra rich masters?
You know they will...just like last time.
Clean House this fall, and Senate, of GOP Douchbaggery.
Or get subjected to more of this.

Will it help the economy? If it will, the GOP will vote it down, or never let it come to a vote at all. The GOP wants to legislate away the rights of the working class and raise their taxes, while giving the treasury to their corporate campaign contributors. And even if Obama's budget did exactly that, they'd still vote it down because it came from teh Kenyan!!1!!

This is the country we live in now.

The budget is but one part of our dysfunction. The Republicans have plenty to be ashamed of, they just get to share this bit with the Democrats too.

If nothing else, Obama's shadow budget shows that following his "tax-the-rich" campaign mantra will do nothing to cut the deficit. Ten-year plans are for suckers. He wasn't even serious with this one.

so tell me again how its going to 'cut' 4 trillion? we are still spending more than we can afford, and somehow its a cut to spend a tiny bit less over the next 10 years that has an increasing deficit each year? So please stop it with that 'cut' bs. He isn't cutting anything on anything. He is still spending more and more each year, while the National debt goes up at least a Trillion each year.

To say he is shifting money from one to another, but the spending still increases, how is it a cut? He is lying to everyone.

So having a 1Trillion deficit each year, and carrying that deficit along each year, and calling cuts to proposed increases on each years budget counts as 4 trillion dollar cut? Its akin to saying "I borrow 10k each year to finance my lifestyle, so I plan to only increase my borrowing a little slower than I planned to in the future, so I am calling it a 'cut' on my spending. Sorry dude, people who fall for the "Obama is cutting spending" are the ones that do not get it. I am just trying to get people to understand that it is not a cut AT ALL. If I can say that I plan to spend 1 trillion dollars tomorrow, and then decide to only spend 500 Billion, I can't call that a 500 Billion cut. Its literally called a 'cut' for the idiots that cannot do math. I can do math, can you?

By this logic, a balanced budget over the next 10 years would be ~ (1.5Trillion x 10 years = 15 TRILLION cut.) Well, its money we didn't have anyways, how is it a cut? Stop being disingenuous.

A slow and painful death? Obama's budget will get to the right people in the house and then instantly shrederized. That does not seem like a slow and painful time. More quick and easy.... like a guillotine.

Every budget Obama has proposed has been a joke so no outrage here.

Well 3 years out he increased 40%, then 28%, so he's improving. I suppose the real deficit will end up $1.1T.

You may as well wish for a unicorn because no president will ever suggest that and no congress would ever pass it. It would be a terrible idea and political suicide.

2012-02-13 10:57:54 AM
So.

If I understand the logic, Obama's budget raises taxes on the richest 1% by 1 billion dollars over ten years and cuts taxes on the 99% by 1 trillion dollars over the same period.

At the same time, he proposes increases spending by ten trillion dollars in 2012.

And this balances the budget, results in world peace, and ends poverty by the year 2020.

How could anyone be against it!? Who's evil enough to want children to starve?
