"I'm finally going to make it to the dentist next week," said Dorli Rainey, a Seattle activist. "I've had to cancel so many times. It's overwhelming."

White people problems.

It was nice that us Giants fans got the chance to occupy the Broadway side of Zuccotti Park during the Super Bowl parade. It's a pretty good spot for that.

I don't think I'd place a trip to the dentist as a white person problem.

I'd be more hopeful if they were actually occupying Wall Street and in numbers sufficient to inconvenience the inhabitants.

This one has the potential to involve a lot of out of work veterans (due to drawdowns) and be more fun when the cops move in to break the protests up.

Oh, good, they'll catch the, uh, oh wait, I had something good for this...the..."Pita Predator".

Unless they organize and put forth a slate of candidates advocating social justice, I don't see what the point is.

where I live, I know some people who are organizing to Occupy Mardi Gras. It will be infinitely more fun and less stupid (by which, I mean more stupid, but in a good way... in the drunken park occupying with music and food kind of way)

Vets get a hiring preference on the civil service exams.

too bad they don't have enough time to rotate through the police academy before shooting protesters.

Over a period of 4 months or so a significant portion of the "protesters" may have been kicked out mom's house and had to get jobs to support themselves, or simply got jobs, fell in love, found a worthy cause, came to grips with the reality they are they're own worst enemy, or just plain grew up. The minority sane and mature 20% of the demonstrators have come to realize hanging out with that group of losers is no way to get a message out and expect to be taken seriously.

abhorrent1: So wait, did part 1 even accomplish anything?

It shifted the national dialogue from deficit to wealth disparity, and exposed even more ugliness from the Republicans on that front. So yes.

Did it accomplish wholesale change of the system? No, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

And waste all that free riot gear and 20' range pepper spray? Wall St. knows the jig is up. That's why they're counting on the greed Über Alles fanbois, armchair stockbrokers and PR shills to successfully harrumph and "tut tut, hippies" them to the getaway car. You now. Suckers who think they're gonna get their bite of the grift when they finally board it all up and move the corner office to Bejing.

Well one of the three major complaints of OWS, was the problems with insider trading within the legislature. It's a huge problem and I believe that the size and scope of the STOCK act is a result of the OWSers bringing attention to the issue.

Don't worry economic conservatives capitalism isn't in jeopardy as long as their socialism to bailout it. Also we spend way more on corporate welfare then all the so called entitlement programs combined times nearly two. But you know the free market. Except it's a lot freer for some people.

That is utterly false. The entire attention on the issue was as the DIRECT result of a piece on 60 Minutes.

I suppose next we'll be hearing that OWS is responsible for the days getting longer too.

OWS is here to stay.

Get use to it whiners.

/ why would you ever expect to get the straight story about OWS from the NY Times ?
