Given that the movie Asgardians are shown as a mixture of magic and cosmic style high-tech it's not too far fetched to speculate that Loki hooked up with them after falling off the bridge into the void. Here's a shot of them gathering to attack from Simonsons's classic run on Thor (they're even sort of pink-purple originally):



And here's a shot of them attacking New York - they even have blaster-type rifles:

Could it be that Ultrons entire existence hinges on Hank(and to a lesser extent Janet)? Just because the movies are not the comics (a groundbreaking observation by the way) doesn't mean they're going to completely throw out any semblance of the original back stories for either the characters or villains.

Think I'll pass on this one. I like the avengers I just don't really care for Whedon.

Why does everyone think this is what Whedon has planned?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this movie will suck, and it will have absolutely zero to do with Whedon (for once he'll be able to pass the buck on blame and be 100% right about it).

This movie is supposed to be the culmination of years upon years of groundwork. Marvel was not about to hand the reins over to a 'visionary' director who's well known for being 'risky' and 'doing his own thing'. They gave it to someone who's a yes-man because he doesn't have the leverage to be 'that guy'.

(It has to sell toys to more than just Whedon fans and comic book nerds, remember...)
