"I told them they need locking mechanisms on the doors!"

28.media.tumblr.com

Really though, how hard is it to lock the cockpit? Seems a few things in the past could have been avoided if they did that.

The crew of FDX 705 is unimpressed.

"The cockpit? What is it?"
"The little room at the front of the plane, but that's not important right now"

2012-02-12 06:36:01 PM
And here for a second I thought it said "PSYCHIC attack on the pilot," and I was about to say, Wow, things are really spiralling out of control.

I guess he didn't like the in flight movie.

So, basically, Uruguayians are tougher than Americans.

O wait, he didn't have a box cutter.

TSA precaution: All passengers must be shackled to the seats.

"All of a sudden shouts were heard from inside the cabin, and two stewardesses came out asking for help and grabbing a young man by his feet,"

"Come here you! Get in there! And good luck!"

I'm not sure there was an American on flight 571 to sample from.

Too bad Mark Whalberg wasn't on that plane...

All Pilots are to be armed, anyone entering the cockpit without permission of the pilots is to be shot.

nekom: The crew of FDX 705 is unimpressed.

Whoa, that is pretty crazy.

FTFA:
The TAM Airlines jet was en route from Montevideo, Uruguay to Sao Paulo when a man who some passengers said was wearing a TAM identification badge got into the cockpit because the door was open.

The Amazing Meeting sounds like it got a little out of control this year...

Dirkax2: Too bad Mark Whalberg wasn't on that plane...

Word! and if only he had suddenly broke into a song and dance routine singing good vibrations on the aisle the nutcase would've calm himself down fer sure.

Mugato: Really though, how hard is it to lock the cockpit? Seems a few things in the past could have been avoided if they did that.

Seriously. You'd think a lock on the door would be standard equipment on every plane built at least since the 1960s. With more modern aircraft I'm bewildered that the cockpit is accessible from the passenger compartment at all.

akede: TSA precaution: All passengers must be shackled to the seats.

I've already proposed that all passengers be sedated in the terminal and loaded to/from the plane in gurneys stacked 3 or 4 high. Replace flight attendants with anesthesiologists. Increase efficiency and profit with increased passenger density. Save money by eliminating in-flight meals, entertainment, toilet facilities, etc. Eliminates dealing with terrorist threats, annoying kids, bad body odor, extended layovers and possibly jetlag.

First class service will put you in your hotel bed before you wake up.

Inconceivable in this day and age that the cockpit door wasn't locked. And yet, it happened......

I like the annoying kids and bad BO part. Also reduces fatties taking up too much seat space.

The 1994 attempted hijacking of Federal Express Flight 705 by a disgruntled employee, using hammers and a spear gun, is pretty engaging reading.

There is no reason to become alarmed and we hope you enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

I thought they made a rule that cockpits had to be locked in flight?

Did the pilot implement sky law?

It won't be long before we all have to fly in paper gowns, and are stapped into individually ejectable pods for the duration of the flight.

Flight attendant says put up that iPhone, and you dont...TERRORIST! *click* *Boomf* *whoosh!* Ain't a problem on the flight no more!

The Jaunt...

In 1994 a disgruntled and possibly unstable fedex employee went all hammer time on a DC-10 flight crew in flight. Messed them up pretty badly but the captain and flight engineer managed to wrestle the guy down with the assistance of the copilot doing some aerobatic maneuvers to knock him off his feet.

My buddy a FEDEX pilot asks "What's the difference between a Northwest Pilot and a Fedex pilot?"

The Northwest pilot gets hammered before he gets into the cockpit.
