I'm going to watch for the Bruce opener, but that's about it.

The only Grammy I care(d) about died in 1991. R.I.P Grammy, I still love you.

*mean comment follows*

Am I the only one who thinks that Adele, upon winning an award, will accept with the smug satisfaction of Camryn Manheim so many years ago, that her winning is a redemption "for all the fat girls"?

/Sorry, not a fan
//Is sure there was more impressive music out there in the past year.

Kind of creepy to read that Clive Davis' party remembering Whitney was taking place in the hotel ballroom while her body was still upstairs in the same hotel.

/just sayin

2012-02-12 05:09:35 PM
Adele is the Whole Foods of pop music.

2012-02-12 05:10:07 PM
More like rolling in the flour, amirite?

2012-02-12 05:11:30 PM
is adele the big girl who was insulted? she'll win it all. sympathy awards

then eventually she will be like all those others who won that one year that no one remembers

2012-02-12 05:12:17 PM
I don't care who else is performing, Chris Brown is going to totally beat all of the other performers tonight! I love his hits!

2012-02-12 05:21:05 PM
I don't want to sound like a hipster so I won't mention that I haven't heard of most of these people. Except for the one who looks like Zooey Daschenel(sp) with bigger boobs.

Wow, I must be getting REAL old. I remember the Grammys being handed out to bands they slighted during their decades-ago prime years. Either that's not the case any more, or I don't know of any bands from the past 15 years.

These award shows are fake.

2012-02-12 06:49:27 PM
Is the award made of chocolate?

2012-02-12 06:58:08 PM
I had the misfortune to watch some of the red carpet stuff, and it's a non-stop Whitney fest, punctuated only by the occasional "who are you wearing".

Who are you wearing? WTF. At the Grammys?
And why in hell are they interviewing Kathy Griffin and Paris Hilton?

2012-02-12 07:02:07 PM
7:30pm Wings vs Flyers
9:00pm The Walking Dead

Sorry Grammy's, you lose.

2012-02-12 07:02:54 PM
I've heard Adele a thousand times yet just saw her for the first time the other day, I thought she was a black 20 year old, boy was I off

JerseyTim: Adele is the Whole Foods of pop music.

The Michael Bolton of the 2000s.

2012-02-12 07:04:17 PM
New episode of The Walking Dead is tonight.

And I do not mean the Whitney tribute.

/too soon?

2012-02-12 07:05:17 PM
Nah, the Grammys always hand out awards to those who just died. Ray Charles cleaned house the year he died. And if Whitney had died before the nominations were made, she'd even beat Adele in every category.

2012-02-12 07:05:18 PM
Will decent music from talented people ever become more popular than marketing and manufactured personas?

2012-02-12 07:05:35 PM
TommyymmoT: Who are you wearing? WTF. At the Grammys?

I'm reminded of the Emmys years ago and Joan Rivers asked Conan who he was wearing and he said, "This is Sears!" and she looked visibly pissed like he was belittling her important work.

/really though, it's a tux. Who gives a shiat?

2012-02-12 07:05:45 PM
I'm not saying she doesn't deserve a mention, but turning the Grammys into a giant Whitney Houston slob-a-thon is insulting to the artists who are there to perform or win awards in recognition of their work. Life is for the living. Say a few words about her remarkable talent, say you'll miss her, and then move on.

2012-02-12 07:06:15 PM
Bleh. To heck with the Grammys.

I'm with you. My wife just watched 10 minutes of the red carpet stuff before turning it off with the comment "who are these people"? Glad I missed the earth shattering Griffin/Hilton interviews. Excellent point, though-I wasn't aware that they were musicians.

2012-02-12 07:06:38 PM
Grammys or Once Upon a Time?

2012-02-12 07:07:25 PM
Who the hell watches this crap?

/aimed at the assholes that do this in sports threads

2012-02-12 07:07:28 PM
So I was on another site and I saw some red-carpet photos from tonight's Grammys and Rebecca Black was in there. I'm sure she is a lovely person but the fact that she got invited tells me all I need to know about the Grammys and the record industry.

I thought you meant Campbell. I was disappointed.

So was Jethro Tull nominated for Best Heavy Metal performance this year?

2012-02-12 07:08:54 PM
The over-memorializing of Whitney just pisses me off. Etta James was 10 times the singer than Whitney, had a much longer and distinguished career, and actually succeeded in beating her demons to live a long productive life. Now she's just going to be a footnote at celebration of the life of a washed up pop star who hasn't been relevant in 20 years.

TommyymmoT: And why in hell are they interviewing Kathy Griffin and Paris Hilton?

Well, Kathy Griffin is a three-time nominee for best comedy album. And she's always good for a The-Soup-worthy moment.

2012-02-12 07:09:33 PM
As if I would watch them.

"Worst Cooks in America," FTW!!

She crazy, he's, well, he's Bobby Flay:

Donald Fagen and Walter Becker slowly nod in your direction.

9beers: 7:30pm Wings vs Flyers
9:00pm The Walking Dead

Sorry Grammy's, you lose.

Tonight's Walking Dead episode: they make it to another farm. Really, the writers of the Walking Dead are dragging out story lines worse than the Sopranos used to.

Etta James was fantastic. I hope there's a mention or a tribute (by someone other than XXXL-tina with that crap running down her leg).

Do people really get excited for awards shows? I don't get it. Look at all the rich people!!!

2012-02-12 07:13:23 PM
Some farker in the "Whitney's dead" thread commented that the following would be a good tribute (paraphrased):

turn down the lights, and empty the stage, and just have a recording of just an isolated track of her voice singing a song.

He first actual single was pretty good, catchy and topical and kinda made fun of the entire situation. Her second one was standard tween pop fluff.

My Moment (new window)

Plus, she's hot.

Oh man, if there were ever an awards ceremony that Ricky Gervais, or hell even Frankie Boyle, were destined to host, it'd be the Grammys tonight.

*gratuitous joke about Adele's weight*

Wow. You, sir, are all over it.

Hey, has anyone mentioned they don't care? 'Cause damn that shiat's funnier the 80th time.

If you think THIS (^) won't outlast I Will Always Love You and whatever other song Whitney has done that a;ready no one remembers than you are surely delusion. farking class, man.

"Here now with a tribute to Whitney: Skrillex and Tony Bennett."

Adele doesnt need any more rolls. Fat ugly little cockney skank has enough as it is.

Pretty much. Though there's a red carpet interview up with Dream Theater, who are nominated for...something, on their Facebook page. Who knows, it's the Grammys, they're probably going up against Adele in one of the more obscure multi-genre covering categories....

\the new album is good though

Lone Stranger: Skrillex. Cause biatches love some Skrillex.

It's funny because death throes cause the same spasms that he thinks is dancing.

/Skrillex sucks
//it's not dubstep

So, when they do the tributes to musicians we lost this year, will Seth Putnam be included? Didn't think so, Walking Dead it is.
