Not very well.

Lt. Cheese Weasel: texdent: Of course most people watching this probably only remember them from Full House and Home Improvement.

No, that was Otis Day and the Knights.

I loved their song "That Thing You Do!"

Earguy: That theramin thing looks like the same one they played on Ed Sullivan 40 years ago.

Tannerin, not theramin. But close. And yes, you're right.

Generation_D: brian wilsons eyes are two empty black dots...

I swear it's not really Brian Wilson that agreed to get back with the band: it's actually an advanced version of Geoff Peterson.

That whole Beach Boys performance was like karaoke night at the nursing home.

Generation_D: brian wilsons eyes are two empty black dots...

I saw him live a couple years ago. He hired a crack band and was basically a cheerleader for the music.

I just feel back for the guy. I can't tell, is he doing it because he needs the money? He obviously does not live to perform, he doesn't seem to like it. Maybe just because he loves the songs so much he feels obligated to keep them alive?

9beers: 51 years together as a band, that's mind boggling.

depends oh how you define "together" and "band," but... yeah.

9beers: 51 years together as a band, that's mind boggling.

Never has that word been so stretched and exaggerated.
But still impressive.

I knew it wasn't a theramin, that's why I included the "thing" word. But thanks, that's two things I learned today about the Beach Boys.

2012-02-12 09:31:11 PM
Did the Beach Boys "rock" by today's definition?

Probably not.

Were they better singers, songwriters, arranger / harmonizers, and producers than today's bands?

WWDGT?

What Would Dave Grohl Think?

Brian Wilson looks like half robot half "deer with its eyes caught in the headlights".
"who are these people? how did i get here?"

I was impressed that they still 'had it' harmonies wise and staying on pitch and stuff.
Then i realized it could be pre-recorded 'support' tapes.
that and the Foster the People singing along with them.

meh.
at least the music part of it was good!

Dear television:
When you do that "back from commercial from ten seconds to promo ourselves, then back to commercial" thing that makes us stop fast-forwarding, IT MAKES US HATE YOU.
Sincerely,
Mankind.
