You can't explain that.

Whoa. Something people can agree with him on.

O'Reilly's never been love struck with Republicans. And like Bill Maher, he's loud and obnoxious, but he holds very moderate political views.

He's never fought cannibal women in the avocado jungle of death, but really, who has?

Everyone who's met him and interacted with him on a personal level, knows that he's just a rich kid with daddy issues who constantly swings from trying to please his father's worldview to embarrassing him.

His dad was a farkpuddle.

I understand he just signed Santorum Lube© as a new sponsor. And he's trying to break in the audience gently.

That is crazy. When has O'Reilly done anything gently.

I'm beginning to wonder if that whole Tiller thing smacked some sense into him.

2012-02-12 09:36:23 AM
Wow, so O'Really and maybe Fox aren't the demonic spawn of satan that progressives want you to think they are?

Huh.

2012-02-12 09:37:09 AM
Back in the early days of FoxNews he did a story on a prom in the south in which the organizing committee (read: white kids) picked out a specific location and required paying for tickets, resulting in segregation. The school's reaction? "The black kids can have their own prom." O'Reilly chewed the school out, and I remember being impressed by his reaction. (Too lazy to Google a video link)

Everyone is trying to do their best. Don't attribute to malice what can be explained by ignorance.

I wouldn't even know who this guy is if it wasn't for Fark but everyone loves lesbians. Even bigots can at least relate to them, even the ones who wear flannel, have femullets and own their own security business.

Broken clock and all that mumble jumble.

No one says Fox and O'Reilly are the spawn of Satan. They are the Lupus of news. Their business model is to present a right-wing slant on news to placate the 5% of the population that believes that everyone else in the news business is part of a vast left-wing conspiracy to smear God, America, and the Republican party.

seconded. the lesbians in our little town have adopted two special needs children. they give them love; affection and a good stable home. Everyone respects and admires our flannel type lesbos. No one cares that they are the ghey. This is how it should be.

It's good that he defends constitutional rights, even when they apply to people he probably doesn't like. But, he still has to throw something like this in: "Those who oppose the in-your-face tactics of some homosexuals do have a legitimate gripe. They simply want to be left alone."

No, Bill, that is not a legitimate gripe. These people aren't offended by 'in-your-face tactics,' they're offended by the very existence of homosexuality. They aren't looking to be left alone; they are looking to force their religious beliefs on others. Homosexuality is a movement to the right-wing morals police, just like OWS or communism.

Except they do it in such an exaggerated and sensationalist way, their suggestion that any other news organization is as comically slanted to the left as they are to the right is ludicrous. Starship Troopers tried to portray a ridiculously right wing propaganda news machine and it's pretty close to Fox News.

O'Reilly is a TV show host that is sometimes a troll and sometimes a bully, and occasionally fun to watch. I don't think he has any real political views.

He's a meaner, less-funny Colbert.

Yes because using the government to force people to do what you want, because you are right and they are wrong, is a better system than freedom.

I...um...agree with Bill 100% besides this little bit of stupidity FTFA: "Those who oppose the in-your-face tactics of some homosexuals do have a legitimate gripe. They simply want to be left alone. They don't want to see public displays that offend their moral or religious point of view." Leave the poor oppressed Christians alone!

Other than that he pretty much nailed it. I feel gross typing this, but Bill can be pretty reasonable sometimes and shouldn't be lumped in with the frighteningly out of touch far-right loons that populate Fox News. He's still out of touch, just slightly less out of touch than the others.

He was pointing out that "free market" might not be the solution to everything. You responded to him like he said government was the solution to everything.
How do you think that makes you look to intelligent people?

Regarding the Gay Pride parade, he's got a bit of a point. My Mom has no issues with scenes like this:

I'm entirely behind people's right to be as flamboyantly gay as they damned well please on their own time, and I still find the pride parades annoying and in moderately bad taste. When you are claiming to represent you entire demographic, you could at least try not to look like a douchebag. If you're intentionally trying to associate your entire sexual identity with, say, assless chaps, then just go away, you're not helping.

//Then, most of the actual gay people I know are either students that I teach or blue/white-collar types I drink with, so maybe 99% of gay folk actually are annoying douchebags and I've just got an extreme sample bias toward the normal person end of the spectrum.

About the same as when those 'intelligent" people answer "go to Somalia" when I argue for less government.

That's the thing. Nowhere is government involvement ever mentioned. This group isn't asking for a law, it's a private boycot. They're asking individuals to vote with their dollars. Isn't that part of the free market?

I remember watching the Colbert interview on O'Reilly, and it was weird watching O'Reilly without his usual act. He was actually kind of funny! I think he's far more self-aware than most people give him credit for, but he merely chooses to use his powers for evil (or really, for self-aggrandizement).

Those crazy-ass gay pride parades with the weird outfits and such...Yeah, those are discomforting for just about everyone to watch, for different reasons.

About the only reason I'd think that they'd even 'do' those kinds of things would be to say 'screw it, let's freak out the straights for a bit'. And while that might feel good in the short term, it doesn't help things long term.

They want you to think that, but it really is not true. Look at their ratings. Their most popular program, Reilly, pulled in 3 million viewers out of a population of 300 million at it's height, or about 1% of the country. Fox wants you to believe that they are some sort of populist, important, voice of the people, but they are really just the fringe of the fringe. If Fox news was not provided for free on most cable systems, if people had to pay extra each month to receive the Fox news channel, it would most likely cease to exist.

No not everyone loves lesbians. Cool story time, my wife is into crafts and decorates our porch with them for each season, At a craft fair one time she is introduced to a woman who is from our town and has been checking out our decorations. They start talking about other houses in the area that are decorated and houses for sale, the woman had her eye on one house for sale but couldn't bring herself to make an offer on it because it was being sold by a lesbian couple, and "she didn't agree with their lifestyle" I can't even began to understand this type of thinking. Cool story done.

Considering their market share it's apparently a lot more than 5% that they're appealing to, at least out of TV watchers.

Uh-oh, looks like someone didn't get his copy of the daily talking points.

Bill O'Reilly is just another RINO. Just like George Will, Ann Coulter, David Frum, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and all the others.

The Republican Party needs to purge itself of these moerates and push even harder to the far-right. That's the only way for the GOP to reach ultimate VICTORY!!!

Bill O'Reilly defends Ellen DeGeneres' gayness. And the moon became as blood. (Bonus: "Kim Kardashian is a far worse role model than Ellen") doesn't believe anything he says because he's a pathetic drama queen who now realizes his money ticket of a decade is coming to an end, and doesn't want to fade into obscurity like Rush Limbaugh, yet still thinks nobody is going to remember all those years of pushing creationism and Republican policies.

Fixed that for us.

"Moon became as blood"? You mean there was a total lunar eclipse? Like the one I saw in December in Death Valley?
