San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said the pair felt disrespected, so when they entered the store a fourth time, one of the men walked around the counter and stabbed the clerk with a 7-inch folding knife.

The other man struck the clerk with an 18-pack of Anheuser-Busch Natural Ice beer.

Maybe the credit card company knew what beer they were buying...

But seriously, stabbing a shopkeep because you felt "disrespected" that a credit card was declined? Take it up with the credit card company.

I've seen more pathetic card rejections. There's a little corner market across the way from a snooty private school near my house. Pretty upscale market where you can get stuff like boar pate and whatnot. So anyway, this kid from the school tried to buy a soda with his debit card. Rejected. And he didn't have the $1.07 in cash to pay for the soda.

If I were to go to the trouble of disabling the clerk, and assuming I had transportation nearby, I would take several cases, probably beef jerky, and maybe some cartons of cigarets. If you're going to stab the guy, you might as well take a few things. I mean it takes more than one case to have a case race.

Young black hispanic men.... If you go to a movie theater Q-Mart, and someone steps on your foot declines your credit card, let it slide... Why spend the next 20 years in jail, cause someone smudged your Puma didn't let you buy beer?

2012-02-12 03:38:32 AM
....maybe some cartons of cigarets

cigarettes would have been helpful, he could have used them as currency when he gets to jail

Yeah, but when I worked at a video store, we'd often get the "CALL CENTER" direction on a credit card swipe, and the credit company employee would instruct us to cut the card, which usually happened in front of the customer. Sure we risked death, but there was a $50.00 bounty for each one, so it was kind of sweet to get a bonus to the paycheck that week.

Well, yeah, if you can't get drunk there, you only have two choices for recreation: meth or stabbin'.

Or simply snatch and run, ffs. People must just farkin' hate themselves. Was that their 3rd strike or something and they just thought they'd go out in grand style with some attempted murder?

Hey knuckleheads, houzabout you 'respect' the credit card company and pay your farking bills.

Why is it always the least respectable scumbags who are obsessed with maintaining "respect" under threat of violence? Try doing something worth respecting, for once...

I think you'll find that *anyone* who uses "disrespect" as a verb is a waste of skin. I have never known an exception.

Don't smugly pat yourself on the back just yet, you superior intellectual.
From Mirriam-Webster:

1dis·re·spect
verb \ˌdis-ri-ˈspekt\
Definition of DISRESPECT
transitive verb
1
: to have disrespect for
2
: to show or express disrespect or contempt for

----------

2disrespect
noun
Definition of DISRESPECT
: lack of respect

So, it appears that is it officially a verb. Haha, now don't you feel silly.
Now we're all allowed to look down on you for your inferior grasp of the English language.

I don't think his point was that they were inventing a new word. His point was that anyone who thinks it matters that a wage slave store clerk "respects" you isn't generally someone worth respecting.

I think it was Heinlein who said, "The less respect a person deserves, the more likely he is to demand it".

18 pack of beer?? Beer comes in six packs, twelve packs, and cases. There's no such thing as an eighteen pack. Idiots!

Err.. then what would the word being used as a verb have to do with anything?
The quote was: I think you'll find that *anyone* who uses "disrespect" as a verb is a waste of skin.
I'm not sure how to interpret that in a way that makes it mean what you're suggesting.

You could look at it this way. If that same subset of the population suddenly started correctly using another word, like "deleterious"... the rest of the population is going to assume they are dumbasses and don't really know what the word means.

Mario Naranjo, 44, and Miguel Naranjo, 22, both of Hesperia, were booked into jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Doesn't the 8th amendment say something about 'no excessive bail'? Or are we not using that one any more?

don't get me wrong, they need to go to jail, but I think bail should be reasonable. 1 million is not reasonable.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone who attempts murder on a random stranger.
