FTFA: Museum fears that 'Gone with the Wind' artifacts might be lost after storage building burns

I know there is the mentality to be first, but I would have waited and written the story after you found out what was destroyed. If anything.

Pshh,

I visited the actual studio in Culver City that filmed the movie back in the day. They only give out private historical tours every decade and I saw a ton of movie props and memorabilia from Gone With The Wind that rarely if ever saw the light of day.

Whatever this museum had from the film were little items compared to all the things I saw at the studio, and until they confirm any damage to actual items of value I won't likely give a fark.

Inaccurate headline is inaccurate.

That noted, this thread made me wonder what ever happened to the famous "curtain dress" designed by Bob Mackie and worn by Carol Burnett during that still very funny parody of GWTW she did on TCBS way back when.

A quick google reveals it to be safely ensconced at the Smithonian. So... *phew*, I guess.

Parts of the interior and exterior sets, the biggest was a huge stained glass window depicting knights. Some small wardrobe and costume items and original set photos taken during filming. They also showed us where they burned down entire sections of the original backlot for the major GWTW scenes and a few buildings from the studios early days that remained.

FTA: "Museum officials are waiting to see whether memorabilia from the classic film "Gone with the Wind" was ruined when a fire heavily damaged the facility near Atlanta where it was stored."

I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow.

Didn't they burn the big gates/wall from King Kong for the burning of Atlanta scene?

From the Wiki:
Mickey Kuhn (born September 21, 1932) is an American actor. His first fame came in playing the role of Beau Wilkes in the motion picture Gone With the Wind (1939).
Kuhn is one of the last surviving cast members from the movie. As of January 2012, Alicia Rhett (born February 1, 1915), who played Ashley Wilkes' sister India Wilkes, is the oldest surviving cast member. Also surviving are Olivia de Havilland (born July 1, 1916), who played Melanie Wilkes; Mary Anderson (born April 3, 1920), who played Maybelle Meriweather; Ann Rutherford (born November 2, 1920), who played Scarlett O'Hara's younger sister, Carreen O'Hara; and Kuhn, who played Beau Wilkes.

I searched for the GWTW graphic that said SHERMAN! but I couldn't find it.
