"Star Trek: The Original Series is the one time Hollywood got conservative ideas right." Yeah, pretty sure Republicans weren't too happy about the interracial kiss or sparing the Halkans

Dear Brietbart when saying "Star Trek was pure conservatism." try not to have the picture of the Nazi episode. It might send the wrong impression.

Good commentary.
I think the real divide between conservative and liberal/socialist thinking is that conservatism is the ideology of adults. Adults want to be free and left alone. Liberalism is the ideology of children who want to be taken care of.
Liberalism only thrives when there is ignorance and immaturity.

Hell yeah, Star Trek was the epitome of conservative values! No money, a society that lived under the idea of 'from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs,' a single world government...
It's Republican utopia!

It's Republican utopia!
And Spock, who was half-human, half-vulcan, promoted the idea of races getting along and even mixing, and adhering to logic, science, and education as the basis of their culture.
That's what the Republican party stands for!

On its surface, you might think a story about Nazis is left wing. After all, Hollywood wants you to believe the Nazis were a right-wing phenomenon equivalent to Libertarianism/ Conservatism. This is laughable, as the national
socialist
Nazis were everything the left claims to love.
Yet, many people still ignorantly accept the idea the Nazis were rightists rather than leftists because that's what they've been taught by leftist teachers.
So it shouldn't surprise us if a show about Nazis was meant as an attack on conservatives.
It is a unique variety of fascism that incorporates biological racism and antisemitism.[5] Nazism was founded out of elements of the far-right racist völkisch German nationalist movement and the violent anti-communist Freikorps paramilitary culture that fought against the uprisings of communist revolutionaries in post-World War I Germany.[6] The ideology was developed first by Anton Drexler and then Adolf Hitler as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.[7] Initially Nazi political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, though such aspects were later downplayed in the 1930s to gain the support from industrial owners for the Nazis; focus was shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.[8]

The federation ran off of energy credits, or something similar.
However, no one wanted for food, shelter, or any other basic needs. So, they were free to expand their minds and follow their dreams in the great Federation Republican Utopia that all began when President Newt took us to the MOON!

By the power of Godwin...
"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are determined to destroy this system under all conditions.*"

I think the real divide between conservative and liberal/socialist thinking is that conservatism is the ideology of adults. Adults want to be free and left alone. Liberalism is the ideology of children who want to be taken care of.
Liberalism only thrives when there is ignorance and immaturity.
Adults know that people are counting on them, that they have responsibilities. It's teenagers who want to be left alone. Republicanism (can't call it conservativism, 'cuz it ain't) only thrives among people with the emotional development of a whiny teenager.

Liberals desire powerful government. They believe that even totalitarian regimes can be good so long as they are run benignly. Indeed, you'll often hear liberals suggest that we should suspend things like rule of law and free elections or give the state tremendous power so it can achieve some supposedly noble goal that can't be achieved the legal way.
Man this is some serious projection. Someone with a degree in psychiatry should just write papers on Breitbart.
So first part
Liberals desire powerful government.
I guess the use of the word powerful can be ambiguous but I am reminded about how Bush Jr was very keen on expanding the role of government; making it more invasive, increasing its scope, so on.
They believe that even totalitarian regimes can be good so long as they are run benignly.
No, that much more closely aligns with republicans of late who were perfectly fine with Bush increasing the power of the oval office based on his "christian" leanings.
Indeed, you'll often hear liberals suggest that we should suspend things like rule of law and free elections or give the state tremendous power so it can achieve some supposedly noble goal that can't be achieved the legal way.
I can't say I have heard of liberals calling for suspension of the rule of law or free elections. Republicans during the Bush Jr administration seemed quite content with it though. Anyone recall phillip atkiss I think it was saying that Bush should become dictator for life? What about the article calling for a military coup against obama and a military junta running the country? Any of this or other similar proposals come to mind?
