Looks like we are done here people. Nice work!

Oh God, FTFA:

The show stars Barr as the head of a mobile home park, where she also acts as a surrogate mother to the residents, one of which Goodman will portray. Former Roseanne scribe Eric Gilliland also has his name attached as the other co-creator.

So she's had a few years to come up with a new idea, and is still humping the 'lower middle-class/upper lower-class poverty queen' stereotype. You would think she would do something else to expand her range instead of making Roseanne 2: Even More Sad.

At least it's not another reality show.

I only have time for one show about a upper middle lower class family, and that's going to be Raising Hope until those bastards at Fox kill it like they kill all shows I genuinely love.

Aren't the Coen Brothers keeping you busy enough?

Already saw that show, I'll pass.

Roseanne chronicled the beginning of the decline of the lower middle class in this country and the parts wherein they succeeded economically were a fantasy.

So you'll be watching Rosanne's show next season then?

I have no problem with this. The Big Bang Theory has 3 Roseanne actors, and they had Darlene and David were hooked up on both. "Newman" worked on 3rd Rock with Kristen Johnson and are both on TVlands new show. Tom Poston was on all 3 Newhart shows. If actors have chemistry, keep them together. Everyone's always trying to reinvent the wheel.

Exactly. The show was great when it mirrored reality. The power company cut off power, house goes dark... "Well, middle class was fun."

Then suddenly they're millionaires? Shark jumping at its finest.

At least it's not a bunch of morons singing other people's songs badly. That seems to be all the rage on television these days.

They should bring Joss Whedon back to write the show, as well.

Great idea! That'll get it cancelled even quicker!

cannibalparrot: Great idea! That'll get it cancelled even quicker!

That would be the hope. Also that I'd love to see him set up a dark, edgy multi-season character arc for Roseanne only to have to bring the entire thing to a conclusion after twelve episodes.

I actually might check this show out. I like John Goodman and the show Roseanne, before they won the lottery. Sounds like its a trailer park boys/roseanne show. I mean, NBC still has that show Whitney on the air. This couldn't be any worse.

How is she going to have time to do this show after she's elected President in November?

Oh lord, this.

Glee is a crime against all that is sacred and good. And the kids who hear these songs fraped up like that for the first time have no idea what they're missing.
It's criminal.

...but it won't be a full ripoff of her old show until Mark Rosewater resigns from WotC to become a staff writer.

I though she was running for President. I just can't take her presidential bid seriously if she's starting up new sitcoms and stuff.

Wow... Goodman really slimmed down.

2012-02-11 07:14:26 PM
While I've wanted her and Tim Allen to return to network tv since they both went off the air in '98 and '99... Tim Allen looks fantastic for his age and his new sitcom is not only completely different than his old show in just about every possible way (except being a sitcom and his rants that he posts to the outdoor man website, which are similar to his tool time rants) and is actually pretty funny.

Roseanne is uglier than hell, is even fatter than she used to be, and is retreading her old ideas but in a way that sounds absolutely stupid.

Just no.

I'm still holding on to a shred of hope that multi-camera, laugh-track sitcoms will die out but damn it, for some reason people seem to like them and they keep making them.
Maybe people like me are different in that when we sit down to watch a show, we actually watch it and don't just have it on for background noise.

How many failed shows did Bill have after "The Cosby Show"?

Know your role. No matter how much money she has made she is still at heart poor white trash. Her last show fell apart when she tried to be something else.

At least the series finale and twist ending tried making up for it, as depressing as it was.

Heh. I actually was in the audience for a taping of "You Bet Your Life"; they recorded it here in Philly at WHYY. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't funny.

Good for him. I loved his turn on the West Wing as (temp) Pres. Glen Allen Walken, but he really seemed to be in poor health then.

Goodman has always seemed like one of the genuine good guys. Glad to see he's doing well, and I'll watch just about anything he's in.

He was excellent in "The Artist" as well.
