Oh, it is going away. They're calling it "corn sugar" now.

/Sure doesn't taste like sugar.
//I'm normally very against it, but I do believe I'd very much support a ban on this garbage.

Why do you hate the job creators?
Think of all of those hospitals and Doctors that will have to deal with other issues if the Diabetes epidemic recedes.

If the insulin release is triggered by fructose, and there is more fructose in high fructose corn syrup than sucrose, then it would seem to me that foods or drinks made with high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar (sucrose) are more likely to trigger diabetes than foods made with sugar.

As such I think I will stick to my Thomas Kemper Root Beer, and Coca-Cola from Mexico, all made with cane sugar. Trader Joe's also carries soft drinks made with sugar. Mexican Coca-Cola is available from Bev-Mo and Hispanic grocery stores.

Are they? Last I heard that idea was shot down because "Corn Sugar" already existed.

Let's see, an organ responsible for sugar homeostasis has receptors to detect sugar. Shocker! Next you'll tell me that other organs have receptors to help them carry out their functions. HFCS is a problem because fructose does not trigger the same receptors as glucose does. Glucose tastes good, but also triggers pathways to tell you that you are full. Fructose misses those receptors. In fruit it isn't a problem, but when you artificially load foods with fructose and calories, watch out. Sucrose, i.e. table sugar isn't bad because it is a glucose paired to a fructose. HFCS is a problem since it messes up the important ratio.
