Fascinating that the IOC allowed Afghanistan to compete in the Olympics despite not sending any female athletes - as it did with numerous other Muslim countries - but banned the country from competing when the Taliban came into power and banned women from participating in sports at home. And the IOC claims to be apolitical...

Also fascinating that several countries (three, I think) still refuse to allow female athletes to represent their country at the Olympics, and yet the IOC apparently has no problem with those countries. Saudi Arabia, for example, has ridiculous rules in place that force women who want to play sports to do so in secret. But hey, Saudis are on the IOC and have loads of cash, so, you know...
